Latvian President says his country needs to have warm relations with Russia

Latvian President Andris Berzins became suspicious ... According to him, a third party wins from the Latvian-Russian confrontation at the economic and political level. Who exactly he had in mind, Berzins did not disclose in his interview. This writes the Latvian newspaper Dienainterviewed by the President of Latvia.
Andris Berzins stated that the only weaponsthat can be used against the Russian Federation is diplomacy. According to Berzins, it is important for Latvia to maintain warm relations with all its neighbors, including with Russia.
Berzins:
Build the Berlin Wall Again? So she collapsed once. If a peaceful solution was found in 1990 (and the situation was much more complicated then), then I think that now everything can be done much easier. Just do not turn away, it is necessary to engage in dialogue. We must realize that the election time is over. If you look at our world widely, I recall the words of Shimon Peres: the role of governments is diminishing and will diminish further; the world is actively ruled by big business. If someone believes that he can stop it, he needs to understand - this will not be possible.
Berzins said that while between Latvia and Russia, someone is trying to build a wall of misunderstanding, a third party benefits from such a confrontation. Meanwhile, it was Latvia that began the implementation of prohibitive measures against Russia, supporting the sanctions and banning Russian artists from entering the country. If Berzins initiated the abolition of these prohibitions, bringing his thoughts to the government, it would be more effective than his words expressed in the interview. In the meantime, the words remain words ...
