Russia, together with India, are creating a new hypersonic rocket
Hypersonic aircraft, in which atmospheric air is used as the working medium of power plants, are promising types of reusable space vehicles (MKTS). It should be noted that these aircraft, according to military experts, are the most promising weapon systems that will have enormous strategic advantages, the main ones of which are a large range and high speed of flight. Because of this development, quite a lot of attention is paid, both in Russia and abroad.
It should be noted that in the Soviet Union there was previously a project and, moreover, quite real, the creation of a rocket with a ramjet hypersonic jet engine. In 70, an innovative flying laboratory “Cold” was created as the basis for which the C-200 anti-aircraft missile complex was used. During the flight test, the new rocket managed to reach speed in 5,2 Mach numbers (approximately 6 thousand km / h). It is believed that today this project has received further development, and its modern development is carried out under the name “Cold-2”. According to unofficial information, work on this project is carried out at the Central Institute of Aviation Motors. Baranov. In particular, it is there that they are engaged in the creation of a unique hypersonic aircraft called the “Needle”.
Work on the creation of hypersonic aircraft and missiles is ongoing in the United States. In particular, aviation Boeing is developing the X-51A Waverider hypersonic missile, and Lockheed Martin is developing the FHTV-2. The first test flight of the American hypersonic glider, April 20, 2010, which according to the project will be able to reach speeds of up to 20M (approximately 23 thousand km / h), was unsuccessful.
The device was launched from the US Air Force base Vandenberg aboard the launch vehicle Minotaur IV. According to the plan of the first experimental flight, the FHTV-2 was supposed to cover 7,6 thousands of kilometers in literally half an hour and fall near the Kwajalein Atoll. The real place of the fall of the device is not specified. The development of this unit is carried out with 2003 year. At the moment, the program is part of the overall concept of operational high-precision global strike of the United States Pentagon.
According to the US Air Force, which conducted the Falcon Hypersonic Technology Vehicle 2 test (FHTV-2), the device was successfully delivered to the upper atmosphere, where it developed speed in the 20M. Then contact with the board was lost. Information that was obtained during the first launch is analyzed by US Air Force experts. The findings of the data processing will be taken into consideration during the second flight of the FHTV-2, which is scheduled for the current year.
The main success in creating a hypersonic rocket, which is capable of speeds up to 6M, belongs to the Russian-Indian joint venture BrahMos. The creation of a new, higher-speed rocket is based on the existing BrahMos supersonic rocket, which had previously entered service with the ground forces and the Indian Air Force. The BrahMos missile is based on the Soviet Onyx missile. Also, the joint venture continues to create an aviation version of the BrahMos, which, according to plans, will be used on various types of combat aircraft. In particular, the tactical fighter Su-30MKI, which are produced in Russia specifically for India.
As representatives of the joint venture said, the first tests of the aviation version of a supersonic rocket can be carried out already in the 2012 year. According to the co-director of the joint venture A.Maksichev, during the current year BrahMos Aerospace will begin work on the creation of an improved version of the Russian-Indian missile. The main characteristics of the BrahMos-2 hypersonic rocket are pre-agreed. It is assumed that the new rocket will be able to reach speeds of five times the speed of sound, and it will be almost impossible to intercept it.
16 on August at the international aerospace show in the Russian Zhukovsky MAKS-2011, MTC Mashinostroenie, the BrahMos Aerospace company and the MAI signed a memorandum of understanding. The document was signed by Alexander Leonov, general director of the military-industrial complex Mashinostroenie, Sivatkhanu Pillay, general director of Brahmos Aerospace and Anatoly Gerashchenko, the rector of the Moscow Institute.
As Sivathanu Pillay stressed, within the framework of this project, the BrahMos company cannot solve the assigned tasks without involving MAI in cooperation. Also, the State Scientific Institute of India will be involved. The amount of the initial investment in each of these schools will be about 1 million dollars. “The product that we develop with the help of these leading institutions should become the most advanced in the modern world. We do not want to be second in the future towards anything or anyone, ”said Sivathan Pillay. According to the BrahMos Aerospace CEO, a new hypersonic rocket should appear in 5 years.
