Anniversary of the Strategic Missile Forces
December 17 is celebrated by soldiers and veterans of the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) of the Russian Federation. In 2014, December 17 is also the anniversary date for the Strategic Missile Forces. That day exactly 55 years ago, a new separate branch of the military appeared in the Armed Forces of the USSR, adding the potential of the defense component of the state.
The first commander in chief of the Strategic Missile Forces was the legendary Chief Marshal of Artillery of the USSR Mitrofan Ivanovich Nedelin, born in the small town of Borisoglebsk (now the Voronezh Region). Marshal Nedelin is considered the founder of the Strategic Missile Forces. Thanks to his enthusiasm, a new separate branch of the military not only appeared in the defense system, but began to actively develop with the involvement of people who are ready to give their life energy and talent for the benefit of the security of the Soviet state.
Today the Strategic Missile Forces is a shield whose reliability is difficult to question. On combat duty are about four hundred strategic missiles with a set of fixed combat units. At the same time, the Strategic Missile Forces are ready to use 6 of various types of missile systems, the very existence of which cools the ardor of those who itch their hands to test Russia's security system for strength. 6 species are mine and ground based complexes. They are often referred to as mobile and stationary complexes, respectively.
According to the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, Colonel-General Sergei Karakaev, about 67% of all combat nuclear charges existing in the country fall on the Strategic Missile Forces in Russia. Of these charges, about 70 percent correspond to fixed installations.
The other day it was announced that in the near future the Strategic Missile Forces could restore one more segment of their potential - the so-called “rocket trains”, which in the professional language are called BZhRK (Battle Railway Rocket Complex). Compositions in which the missiles are in wagons that imitate conventional railway refrigerators with their appearance can again begin to travel across the endless expanses of Russia, creating an additional headache for the "partners" who have decided that a unilateral withdrawal from the ABM treaty is able to give them some unquestionable dividends .
According to the leadership of the Strategic Missile Forces, by the end of 2014, the troops will receive another 16 of new launchers of the RK Yars (PC-24 Yars). These complexes will go into service with the three regiments of the Strategic Missile Forces. Another six missiles for mobile RK have been used by the Strategic Missile Forces units recently.
Colonel-General Sergei Karakayev noted that the rearmament of the troops will take place next year. The 2015 year, in particular, is scheduled for the replenishment of the Strategic Missile Forces with 24 by Yarsami. It is planned that it will be Yarsy who will make up the main strike force of the Strategic Missile Forces.
Youtube video telling about the characteristics and potential of the PC-24 "Yars":
At the same time, it is added that such missile systems as Topol will not be sent to retire. Their reliability allows us to keep the complexes in service with several units of the Strategic Missile Forces.
Having celebrated their 55 jubilee, the strategic missile forces are going to increase the number of training and test missile launches of various types. If no force majeure happens, then strategic missile players must launch 14 rocket launches in 2015. Of these 14 start-ups, eight will be combat training.
Lieutenant Colonel of the Strategic Missile Forces, retired Gafur Gilyazov:
It is difficult to disagree with the officer. The events that are happening in the world today make it clear that the existence of such troops as the Strategic Missile Forces in Russia is an objective factor in real state sovereignty. We can confidently say that if Russia, after the collapse of the USSR, finally said its final goodbye to its strategic potential, today the state would hardly have had any opportunity to talk about the future outside the direct assault of a number of foreign powers. If a year ago, the words about the threat to the independence and security of Russia would sound a bit strange, today it is an objective reality. And all the combat training launches of missiles of the Strategic Missile Forces against the background of the modernization of strategic potential is not a whim of the Defense Ministry’s leadership, but a conscious need aimed at strengthening state security.
Happy Holidays, Strategic Missile Forces!
