Ukrainian "Armata" remained the layout

33
A couple of years ago, the specialists of the Kharkov Armored Repair Plant decided to keep up with the global trends in the development of heavy infantry fighting vehicles and began developing similar equipment on their own, taking as a basis the Russian heavy BMP T-15 “Armata”, reports "Messenger of Mordovia".

Ukrainian "Armata" remained the layout

Since the main a tank the Ukrainian army was supposed to become BM Oplot, a decision was made to use the base of the T-80 tank, almost identical to the Kharkov tank. It was planned to take a diesel engine 6TD-2E with a capacity of 1200 hp as a power unit.

Another feature of this BMP was an unprecedented armor protection: the upper frontal part was equivalent to 1200-1900 mm conventional armor in the most protected part of the body. If Kharkov engineers could finish the car, then it would stand up to not only modern, but also promising weapons.

As in the promising Russian infantry fighting vehicles, the Kharkov should have a well-protected (100mm armor thickness) capsule for the motorized rifle squad.

According to some information, they wanted to equip the Kharkiv BMP with modules of various weapons with crew-friendly ammunition.

Factory workers began to actively work on the model, but neither the Ministry of Defense, nor foreign customers, were interested in this development, so they did not complete it.

If to take into account the current situation in the country, the Kharkov BMP will remain a project, recalling that the Ukrainian army could have one of the most protected BMP in the world.

Yes, it was especially strange that Ukraine was going to spend 5% of GDP on defense needs.

              NON-BOTTOM.
Meaning? It is clear that "live" tracked bases remained, they are more durable than weapons systems. More like a hearse on wheels / tracks.
              Wheeled "miracle" is generally something!

The Ukrainian BMP-55 on the chassis of the T-55 tank at least looks and is better arranged than our BTR-T and BMO-T.

It’s strange somehow. How could Ukrainian designers take as a basis the technology that Russia still does not have?

"If we take into account the current situation in the country, then the Kharkov BMP will remain a project" - as, in fact, the country itself and its so passionately desired independence: all projects, projects, projects ...

The minus from the ukrotroll suddenly led me to the idea: maybe Kharkovites already knew that they would not be in the Unified and Indivisible for a short time and were preparing to equip the Russian army, as the Armed Forces of the USSR did ?!

They have enough development and the design bureaus of Kharkiv are not bad. Another thing is that the Ukrainians will not allow Ukrainians to have their own normal army - because they ate the Poles ... So the permitted peak for Ukrainians is BTR-4 or something like that.

Well, if you remove all the chuckles about dill (which is absolutely true), we can conclude that two tank schools of the former USSR come to the same idea of an independent armored capsule and develop it in parallel. So these developments were actively conducted in the USSR and, at a minimum, there was a task with something similar for different design bureaus. Here Kharkovites developed the last grains of a great country. They themselves, as I understand it, can only create surrogates for alterations.

So much for our "great" government. Our plant is now in a terrible decline (workers are not paid money, there is practically no funding. The plant still has old Soviet equipment. The plant is now working in a purely remanufacturing mode. These old and worn-out T-64 and armored personnel carriers are being repaired and that's it.

But it could have turned out to be a really not bad BMP, much better protected and more convenient for landing than the BMP-1,2,3. If it were done.
