Combat use of Mi-24 helicopters in the war against Donbass

30
Part of 1. The composition of the group

In the legacy from the Soviet Army VGN "Ukraina" received a huge amount aviation equipment - 3 800 aircraft and helicopters, combined into 4 air armies and colossal infrastructure. Of these, the figure of 280 units of Mi-24 helicopters of various modifications is called.

One of the first sides on which the red star was replaced with the Petliura-Bandera badge:

Instantly, trade in military property began to the right and left, accompanied by muddy schemes, kickbacks, corruption and other delights of the emerging statehood. It was reported that exports amounted to 142 machines, and not only the outdated modifications of the “D” and “B”, but also the cannon “P” were sold. The latter, however, were subjected to cannibalism - were deprived of the opportunity to use guided weapons, only as a gun-BAR variant.

In the photo one of these nedochelikopterov:

But who will shoot assault 60 kilobaxes each in Africa?
A significant amount of sold XP (P) type airplanes (I will be referred to as "RHR" later on, as is customary in aviation). There is no information on the implementation of the “K” and “VP” modifications.

The main part of the grouping in the punitive operation were helicopters of modification “P”, there are also four “RHR” units and three “VP” units. The review will consider only those on the tail beams of which are marked two strips of fast recognition.

In the photo, the Mi-24VP helicopter b / n 10 lined up in Slavyansk with fast identification lines on the tail boom:

Combat use of Mi-24 helicopters in the war against Donbass

The largest number of aircraft rolled out the 7 th Breslavsky regiment of the AA (Army Aviation), from the city of New Kalinov, Lviv region - ten, which surpassed both air brigades and surprised the specialists. According to randomly scant information in 2013, there were only two “live” machines. The starting side numbers are as follows: 01, 03, 05, 07, 09 (VP), 10 (VP), 15, 21 (PXR), 24 (PXP) and 37, the brackets indicate the modification if it is not “P”.

One "striped" board with completely burnt camouflage did not have a side number and in the fall stood near the TEC. Earlier known helicopter №02 was found in the parking lot without rotor blades, probably dead.

Photo board "02" parked regiment:

Back in the distant 2004, there was a spotted 11 (VP), but its tracks were lost.

The funny thing is that this military unit was to be disbanded in 2014 year.

The AA Brigade 11-I (Chernobaevka) sent six license plates to the front: 17, 19, 24, 25, 26 and 29, all models “P”.

I will note four more helicopters:

- UNO-472 - the board, which arrived from Côte d'Ivoire in the late winter-early spring of this year, is likely to develop a resource. 15.03.2014 appeared once under Genichesky during an unsuccessful assault with the dill of the Arabat Spit. Presumably this board was No.19. At the same time, 17 and 29 were also in those places;

- №34 - white stripes are applied on the Soviet camouflage “trefoil”, the engines are scrolled, beautiful eyes are drawn on the ROM and everything is over.
- №№22 and 23РХР - received black stripes on white un-ovsky color, probably prepared for fights (there are tint colors on the exhaust pipes), but unsuccessfully;

The main intrigue of this BraaA is related to the freshly camouflaged board demonstrated in the photo report of the 56 exercises of a separate helicopter unit in the summer of 2014. The documents carried traces of edits "Photoshop" and submitted to the Ministry of Defense dill, famous for their uncleanliness.

Of the completely "inanimate" boards in the last year or two were seen in the parking lot: 02, 14, 27, 28, 31. IMHO all the dead. The fate of №23П in factory camouflage, which only once appeared on a beautiful photo in flight, is unclear.

The AA (Brody) Brigade 16 is represented by nine helicopters: 02, 06 (VP), 09, 12 (VP), 14, 24, 25, 40, 91 (PXR)

Several boards disappeared somewhere: the advertised №04 «ПУ1», 18 and self-made camouflage 07 and 08. The last two probably joined the ranks of the dead.

In the conditional reserve can take another nine cars:

- №01 blue "P" of the plant MOU "Aviakon" Konotop;

- located in the same board for upgrading the profile of the Mi-24PU2. The degree of readiness for the airframe and engines is high, problems have arisen with imported avionics due to the restrictions imposed by the best European allies of dill;

- three sides of the UNO 472-474, located in Côte d'Ivoire under a contract with the UN;

- the four sides of the UNO 881-884 for the same reasons, plowing the fields of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

In total, X-NUMX Mi-25 helicopters were involved in the combat operations, which is even more than the same AA units of the Mi-24 transport and evacuation units (8 units). Paradox.

Part of 2. Combat training

It cannot be said that the military helicopter pilots of the WGN did not fly at all and did not train. Of course, the collapse of the 90 aviation, when kerosene was practically not bought, had its effect, but the equipment was still a lot and in a satisfactory condition. But then the natural process of the change of generations began, the airmen with a touch and experience of Afghanistan left, the shift was not prepared. Is the same story it happened with the military schools - only one remained, and at 2014 there was no year in it for the Mi-24 flight.

The entire combat training of AA pilots consisted of rare flights between parts, not frequent drills with the launch of the NAR, the shooting of guns and machine guns. So, by their own admission, the exercises with the use of guided missiles were held only once in twenty years. And this is for the crews of attack helicopters, whose main task is precisely the fight against enemy armored vehicles!

Separately, it is necessary to mention the African epic AA. For many years, there were sent crews and repaired boards but, IMHO, except for harm, this idea did not bring anything.
I will explain this thesis:
- helicopters were sent to tropical countries with high humidity, there was a rapid deterioration and aging equipment.
- in the pursuit of a long dollar, senior officers of pre-retirement age were sent there, there were few young people;
- as such, combat training was not conducted, couples and links did not fly, exercises were rare. All tasks were reduced to the maintenance of the transport Mi-8 as a "scarecrow" for the natives;
- the money earned on the contract (about a billion evergreen for all the years) did not reach the army, the bears returning from a business trip were often joking and not sent for refurbishment. Cemeteries in the shelves began to fill with white "Africans" instead of "trefoils".
More or less preserved devices continued to be used at home, often in white, but sometimes repainted in parts.

Some programs for maintaining aircraft were nevertheless executed, one overhauled helicopter was demonstrated in Svyatoshino back in the 1999 year:

During 2002-2012, factory repairs were carried out with the restoration of camouflage on the part of the machines, here is an exemplary list:
11 BraAA - 01, 02, 14, 23, 26, 27, 29;
16 BraAA - 02, 04, 06, 09, 10, 18, 40, 91.

As can be seen from the list, the 7 th AA regiment is not in the list; as a consolation prize, he received the repaired board No. 15 with a yellow board number, made in the XAUMX style of BrAA.

This is he in the photo with the tactical badge of the 7 regiment under the command cabin on the exercises in the Desna training center in March of the 2014 year:

In total, according to some data, in the 2002-2012, factory overhaul went up to the 100 Mi-24 units, mostly for UN missions.

Summing up the section, we can say that the equipment was preserved little and the crews were not prepared for war with a serious enemy on the ground and in the air. All the achievements of the Soviet aviation were completely lost.

Part of 3. Spring call

With the arrival, as a result of a bloody coup, to the power of the marginal junta, the situation for the army of "Vna of Ukraine" changed dramatically. As it should be a criminal-coupler grouping, the junta instantly crushed all the power structures. The Army, contrary to the Oath and the spat upon the Constitution, was forced to act within the country. Not bypassed this side and army aircraft. At first, as the seemingly most spectacular, they began to demonstrate it near the borders of the Crimea and at the Desna training ground in Chernihiv region. In the south, both air raids were involved, the 7 th regiment of the two sides covered the northern direction.

Now about each part separately.
In March, the 7 th AA Breslavsky regiment sent the airborne 01 and 15 to the Desna training ground, which were shown to the general public during a hastily launched military exercise.

Later on, 01 returned to the Aviacon factory, where it had undergone some tests, and 15 temporarily fell out of sight. Obviously, he was driven to the Chuguev airfield, which became the base of the 7 regiment during the war. The next time this board was lit up 06.05 near Lugansk, where I personally watched him sneak along cross-country beams, bypassing the city in an arc from the east, carefully skirting the terrain. IMHO his path lay in Lugansk airport, already occupied by Nazi paratroopers. A day later, another board of the 7 regiment flew in the same place, IMHO it was 37 (I did not notice the black stripes on the dirty-white fuselage), in the direction of the Dolzhansky checkpoint, where there was a provocation premises dkopogranichnikov IMHO he drove these provocateurs. Also the presence of this board in the air confirms the video from the city of Svatovo, laid out around this time in the service “YouTube”.
During May, two photographs were taken in flight of another pair of this regiment - 07 and 05 (180).

An interesting fact in the biography of the unit was a visit to her 04.04.2014, by a Drohobych priest, who promised to help financially for the restoration of the aircraft (IMHO with 1 UAH notes). He kept his promise, the airplanes took to the air. History does not like the words “if,” but this particular priest is guilty of the death of the crew of Major Oleg Biryuk, if he did not interfere in the affairs of the army, the pilots would have survived.

In the photo, the very same Judah clings to the barrel of the YakB-12,7 machine gun of the Mi-24РХР w / n 21:

The next fact was the appearance of 14.04.2014 on the battlefield of the militia with punitive officers near Kramatorsk of two white sides: 09VP and 21РХР, which caused a scandal, skillfully promoted by Russian television, because 21 is proudly emblazoned with the UN inscription on the fuselage.

Three days later, the same pair was spotted in the field near Raisin with a shred of compromise. An interesting point was that the 09VP was partially painted - a blue bottom was made and some camouflage was applied.

After receiving high-quality images of the board, the whole world saw this monstrous daub.

Then there was an attack on the Donetsk airport 26.05.2014 of the year. I will not go into the details of the battle, I will only say that it was a joint operation of the 7 AA regiment, the 299 th air brigade and Kirovograd special forces regiment, which resulted in the death of innocent civilians - a woman and a young man at the Donetsk railway station and several people in shot cars on Vzletnaya street. The court still will be.

In this attack, the airplanes participated: 10VP, 15 and 21РХР, C-8 missiles were used from long distances and small angles of attack, all this happened right above the apartment buildings.
In the same place, the first and last time the former UN-Commander 21РХР was spotted in the new spotted camouflage “reptile”. After this fight about him neither hearing, nor spirit. There was a report from journalists about the crashed helicopter, but so far no documentary evidence has been provided. IMHO, he still was hit, sat on the forced and was quietly disposed of.

In the photo board 21РХР "reptile" in one of the last flights

11-I didn’t show any particular activity in spring, its 17, 25, 26 and 29 boards flew 24.04 to Mariupol airfield:

17 th and 25 th sat in the location of the army near the village. Rozovka on the highway Zaporozhye-Mariupol. IMHO they carried out the cover of the southern group of armies punitive.

The biggest star of all the screens in the spring was 16 BraAA. In early March, most of its sides moved to an abandoned airfield near the Crimea, where they were located before 14.03. On this day, they were fueled with fuel, kindly provided by junta member Beney Kolomoisky (in debt, of course, for future tenders with one participant at inflated prices) and the whole group flew to Dnepropetrovsk airfield, which temporarily became its base.

The photo before the departure of the group XAUM BraAA from the alternate aerodrome, in the foreground 16РХР:

From there, with intermediate landings at Raisin, the sides merrily cut through the whole Donbas at low altitudes. Many amateur and professional videos were filmed in Volnovakha, Mariupol, Novoazovsk, Artemovsk, Konstantinovka. But most of the circles they clocked in April over the cities of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. Also, the two sides accompanied the 24.04.2014 of the Mi-8 with the Bandera troops to reinforce the defense base of the armored vehicles in Artyomovsk.
Two sides of this brigade - 12VP and 25 (then still white) flew into the general company from the location of the TA brigade, where they were in the winter.

Part of 4. Slavic lawlessness

As time passes, the 2 events of May in Odessa and Slavyansk can already be viewed as integral parts of one savage plan. In the first city, the calculation was on the barbaric suppression of peaceful protest by the Maydanovtsy with the inaction and powerlessness of the police, in the second city the army with the help of aviation and armored vehicles had to defeat the weakly armed militias. The purpose of both actions of intimidation was to suppress the will of the people of the Southeast to resist the bloody junta.
If in the first case it ended with a new Khatyn, then under Slavyansk the new, already ukropskaya army suffered a humiliating, first and not its last defeat. She was involved in a civil war on the side of EVIL.

Early in the morning of May 2, militia checkpoints were attacked from the ground and from the air. Heavy fog and low clouds played a cruel joke with the aviators. When planning operations using aviation, the weather factor is always taken into account, and the fact that the operation was not postponed again shows the coordinated nature of operations in the two cities.
Weather conditions forced the crews to descend to extreme heights, where during the battle two of them were hit in the area of the settlement. Karpovka of ATGW "Fagot". This fact is evidenced by the degree of destruction of the aircraft and the number of dead crew members. Among them was the flight engineer of the helicopter, Senior Lieutenant Grishin, a native of Slavyansk, but such are the grimaces of fate among the servants of the junta. The surviving seriously wounded captain Krasnokutsky was rescued by the militia and later transferred to the enemy. The biggest rejection in the military environment was caused by the fact that they threw their dill near the helicopter’s wreckage, only took their personal weapon. But such is the village, as they say in Paris, a more rotten army than the ukropskaya, the story did not yet know.

The incident with the helicopters led the army into a state of shock, their only military achievement during the three-month confrontation was the taking of the dominant height Karachun.
Based on the data actually collected, it can be argued that on that day, the 09 and 40 boards from 16 BraAA were destroyed.

Further developments under the heroic city of Slavyansk include the appearance of a link from 11 BraAA there, probably caused by the replacement of demoralized warriors from 16 BraAA. The same four Mariupol sides were fixed: 17, 25, 26 and 29. In the 05.05 battle near the TV tower on Mount Karachun, the 29 board, one of two camouflage units that had been overhauled before the flight to Germany in 2012, participated.

This outstanding duel was filmed by two amateur operators and some details became known to the general public. The helicopter apparently attempted to attack the BMD, which the militia used as bait, came in from the north, along the road to Barvenkovo-Kramatorsk and from a frozen position, hiding behind a "green", began to launch C-8 from a low altitude:

For clarity, here is an aerial view of Karachun mountain:

For which he was punished, having received a queue of small arms in the leftmost side of the most vulnerable part - the rotor gearbox and its harness. According to the pilot, Major Vladimir Pomazuev, there was a phased failure of hydraulic systems, followed by a forced landing. An interesting route of movement is a wounded animal - it flew at a low altitude above the center of the city in the opposite direction from the positions of its army:

and flopped into the swamp near the railroad in the Raygorodk area.

The principle of bad luck worked to the full - the non-recoverable board of dill themselves finished off with the Su-25 attack plane in three days.

The hit flyer gave an interview where the expression of his face speaks better than words.

After that, sporadic attempts were made to use helicopters, missile launches from afar at the militia positions, a strange board landing near the TV tower and other tricks.

Events in Slavyansk, by and large, are poorly described in the literature, only solid riddles.

For example, this fire in the parking lot of helicopters:

The operation of the 22.05.2014 army aviation near Volnovakhi stands somewhat apart. Two videos were filmed there, which show how, after the militia defeated the field headquarters of the mechanized brigade, two helicopters — 06VP and 12VP — are already dropped onto the head of the ukropam, and it is recorded that the latter has already fired the GSH-23L gun from the second call. According to her. After this demarche, the entire demoralized brigade is withdrawn from the front for two weeks.

Board 12VP during the raid:

Another case of combat use of the Mi-24 is 02.06.2014 in the city of Lugansk, during the assault by the militia of the base of the border guard detachment. The reptile of the 7 regiment is clearly visible on the video and you can hear how it is fired from all the trunks:

The latest act of Slavic avia dramas are the 03-04.06.2014 events. Different sources vaguely describe what happened, from the documentary evidence there are three bad videos, photos of a burning object and three damaged helicopters.

"Helicopter"
IMHO during the 03.06 battle, one of the helicopters was damaged first (91РХР, later the blades were changed, or 10VP, the tail boom and the gearbox compartment were punched), which left for a forced landing, then immediately from the MANPADS, board # XXNX was hit, which flopped near Kharkiv-Rostov highway.

The result of a rocket hit a helicopter:

The next day, two more sides were shot down - 12VP Major Valentin Tsigulsky “burned to the ground,” the second of a pair of 91РХР or 10ВП boarded an emergency landing.

In the foreground side is №15, in the background 12VP is supposedly lit

The militia reported about a helicopter finished on the ground with a BMD cannon, but there is no candidate for this matter yet. In the third video, unfortunately removed from the YouTube service in just a few hours, there were three helicopters sitting in the field, one of which was white. Perhaps it was 25, which received non-fatal damage to the tail boom and was subsequently restored.
There is also a video story of the ukropsky soldier from the front line, where he reports seven knocked down sides, while from his position near the Krasnolimansky turn of destroying other helicopters shot down in the database area (Mi-8) was simply not visible.
The combined group of boards from the 7 regiment, 11 BraAA and 16 BraAA was actually incapacitated, both in technology and psychologically.
At the end of the Slavic epic there is a video from 04.06, filmed in Dnepropetrovsk and is called “ATO. Return of Ukrainian helicopters ”, where they are returning from the front - three units, all camouflaged. Don't be a messy one.

Part of 5. Flying in a dream and in reality.

After the "helicopter" in fact, there was a long, almost two-month break in the combat use of Mi-24 helicopters.
This time, dill did not sit with folded arms. Some feverish preparations began, the concentration of airplanes on the front-line aerodromes and other related activities.
The most interesting thing at this moment was the appearance of previously unused aircraft near the front:
- 03, 05 and 24РХР from the 7 of the AA regiment;
- 19 from 11 BraaA (previously the number of this board never glowed at all!);
- 24 and 25 from 16 BraAA.
White helicopters underwent cosmetic “spa” procedures - they were repainted in camouflage. Moreover, the budget option was applied, without surface preparation and priming. Applied camouflage on the type of the Polish side, abandoned by these Evroriyans in distressful Iraq.

In the photo Polish Mi-25, "forgotten" from Iraq:

The most mysterious event became single and group flights over the rivers. Where and why they flew remained a mystery. Seeing this ugliness and the ever-increasing numerical composition of the group, the idea arose of creating an impact fist from the Mi-24 for delivering a decisive blow together with the BTG mechanized brigades in Donetsk. But something didn’t grow together, although according to calculations there were operational MI-18 before 24. Terrible power in capable hands, could with massive use to endure the defense of the militia.

The second point was to paint the onboard numbers and transfer the new "fake" numbers to the paper sheets inserted into the portholes. At first, this, together with the repainting, caused bewilderment, there were messages from dill about the transfer of strike aircraft (Mi-24 and Su-25) to the airfield of Poltava. It was thought that they are reduced to a single unit with a normal numbering. But the fake was exposed along with the number 81, which became 91РХР, they just physically do not have that much technology.

The base of the 11 th and 16 brigade was the airfield of occupied Kramatorsk, where in addition they drove a bunch of air defense systems, including suspicious "Buki". There were noticed borta 02, 14, 24, 91, 17, 19, 25, 26. They are still there, the locals report engine starts, but there have been no flights since October. Satellite images recorded at different times the presence of 4-5 machines at a time.
A couple of times, Mi-24s were seen, accompanied by Mi-8, who evacuated undercooked dill from the front line.

Chuguev airfield as the base of the 7 regiment became the second point of base. From there, flights were carried out in support of the group of punitive troops in the LC. IMHO it was from there that the last two combat flights of the Mi-24 AA - 14.06 to the attack of the militia checkpoint near the town of Happiness (just mazily)

Snapshot of the Mi-24 attack on the militia checkpoint:

and 20.08 to the surrounded parts in the area of Lutugino-Georgievka. The last flight was made by a couple, IMHO, it was the newly repainted 07 and the reptile 05. One of them was shot down, the crew of Major Oleg Biryuk was killed.

Recently, on the Chuguev airfield, the aircraft 09VP, 24РХР and 37 have been seen. Also, the helicopters of the 7 regiment were fixed a couple of times as convoy guards during flights of all sorts of cones to the combat zone.

First-hand information from the DPR militia.
24.08.2014 militia moved to Elenovka, squeezed in MT-LB dill with ZU-23-2, three “Rapiers” and a towed mortar, took prisoners in the store, they just ... oh.
The most important thing is that the Mi-20 (speaking with a machine gun in the nose turret) came out to the field directly from the forest belts at the height of 30-24, also ofigel and went to the second round. The battalion was thrashed on its side, the board began to smoke and left. By color - green spots on a gray background.
IMHO - it was 06VP, he has him since July, not a single photo shoot.
After the presentation of this picture, the militia confirmed that everything was one on one, even sunflowers.

Another point relates to the use of anti-MANPADS. Despite the heart-rending cries of the junta representatives about the availability of modern air defense systems, the real work in this direction was done very badly. The topic of installing Adros electronic countermeasure systems on helicopters was exaggerated in exchange for the Soviet Lip, which simply died of old age. But by the way it all quickly died down, there was no money.

The achievement can be considered as the retrofit of the side of the No. XXUMX with a device for the release of heat traps from ASO, of which it has been deprived of all recent years.

At the beginning of the war, the only equipped EVU (ejection-exhaust device) on the engines was the Brodsky board 91РХР. Prior to this, the EWU kit in 2012 was installed on the helicopter No.15 still in the parking lot of the Aviakon plant, although, I admit, it could be the same kit. Already after the "helicopter" began retrofitting machines with these devices, but not enough for everyone, as always. In total, seven helicopters received an EVA. Their origin is foggy, they are of the same type, still Soviet-made, but multi-colored. IMHO collected in warehouses somewhere in Eastern Europe.

The conclusion of this part of the review is that dill have spent significant resources on supporting the grouping of Mi-24 helicopters, but everything turned out to be wasted. They did not help their massively dying troops in the boilers. So much the better for the militia.

Part of 6. Epilogue, he is an obituary

What awaits VGN Army Aviation in the future? Same as the whole army. They have no future. No one will allow the existence of a dill-fascist dwarf in the neighborhood with the reviving power of Russia. Of course, dill will not go bankrupt right away, 140 billion babasikov debts from it will pull to the blue. Including due to the sale of the remnants of military equipment.

For some time, the AA will last, then because of lack of money everything will land on the eternal parking. People will be much tougher. Due to lack of professionalism, the flyers will be left out of the air, some of the techies who are more intelligent will scatter around the world. The rest will be transferred to work in the agricultural cluster, which will be created on the territory of the former VGN.

It's a shame that 23 of the year was blown into our ears about the “people's army”, taxes were spent on it, and at that time there was a total destruction of the USSR heritage. It is bitter for the servicemen who took the oath to serve the People and abide by the Constitution, and went to serve the bloody puppet junta.

And most importantly, there should be no illusions that in the future, such a formidable weapon as the attack helicopter Mi-24 will fall into the hands of the young “Moskal on knives” jumping in ecstasy.

    Thanks to the author. For such material, of course +.

    Bitterly for the servicemen who took the oath to serve the People and abide by the Constitution, but went to the service of the bloody puppet junta.

    But they are adults! And what do they not understand, for whom are they fighting?

    What is left there, what military equipment has it rotted, what is there to sell, they have not scraped together

      Well, there are a lot of things lying around at the storage bases. If you put your hands a little - it can go that way. (meaning simple armored vehicles) Another thing is that now you can’t go to the arms market with this shit. Only if there are some blacks, and those don’t always have enough for food.

    The author, well done, did a great job of systematizing the use of ukro-helicopters and their background, although it was hard for me (as a layman) to digest the text. The last photo is the apotheosis of the Ruins in the army and aviation, as well as the antics of the cadets of the Kherson Naval School in relation to the deputy for combat training. It will be simply impossible to restore normal relations with them, at least I have no idea how this can be done.

    I think it’s too early to bury the junta’s aviation, they still have time, they will repair it, they will read books, wise men from the ocean will come tell us how to conduct military operations using helicopters, the former allies from the Warsaw treaty will throw up equipment, they will give a lot of blood. The main thing is that the militia would have something to answer to these flyers. we still do not see organized resistance and unity of command among the militias. they pull out the war only with enthusiasm and personal courage. it’s time to organize, and fight unprofessionalism.

    Recently they wrote that 2 24s were restored and supplied with "high-precision weapons" and navigation aids. And they were going to fly even in fog and at night. Fact of history - EVERYTHING that dill touches comes to ruin and basically self-destructs. The movement of the Nazis in the field of aviation is pompously announced as a rebirth. With agony, they also move. The Khuntai confuse these two processes. Any fantasy needs MONEY. Natural freebies keep hoping to get their pockets full. For the races, obscene ditties against the GDP and for the punitive operation. The crazy homeless woman also dreams of an oligarch for her personal use .... Dreaming is not harmful!

    Why the heck did so much military equipment in the USSR? That the equipment in the warehouses of the "fraternal peoples" rotted away. It would be better to deal with the economy inside Russia. Maybe we went along the Chinese path of development.

      Often they made unnecessary equipment, often in the pursuit of awards and prizes they adopted still raw samples in the last days of the year. Our military-industrial complex almost never considered folk money. The economy really trudged behind ideology. At the same time, a state such as the USSR should have had a mighty army, not only for defense, but also for influence on the international arena and without a large number of weapons. But the Chinese way really needed to go.

    Excellent analysis and knowledge of the material. I’ll add from myself. According to the Afghan experience, Ukrainians are not warriors even once. Well, not given. Rotten folk, bespectacled. This is the first. Second, the economy plays a huge role in the war. War is an expensive pleasure and getting involved in it makes sense if the state’s treasury is full, and if there’s nothing there, if the economy is breathing frankly, if the war will cause unrest because of the banal impoverishment of the state, then what's the point of twitching?

    But he did not go to serve these kam. Thanks again.

    Our economy is also not so hot, there is nothing special to be proud of, and in case of war, how long we will spend on enthusiasm is another question, especially in the event of a conflict with Europe or with whales

    As I understand it, Ukrainian helicopters shot down from
    MANPADS because they did not have a thermal emission system
    missile traps.
    And what about the Russian Mi-24? What systems
    Are they equipped with MANPADS?

    The article is not bad. This is the only review, not the analysis. Annoying mistakes are encountered, for example, 3rd Br. AA named the 16th.
    I do not agree with the derogatory assessment of the flight training of the flight crew of AA. It is thanks to the African “voyages” that the raid and flight training in AA NE are an order of magnitude higher than the performance of all other APU pilots.
    Beginning in 2010 (after Yanukovych’s arrival), the flight of pilots in Ukraine and not only the “Africans” sharply increased (they began to reach the NATO level of 50-60 hours a year by an order), exercises were conducted constantly, firing regularly (once a quarter exactly ) And so all the last 3 years.
    Another thing is that tactical training is below the baseboard. So these are questions not to the pilots, but to the command. This is where the “African” experience and the experience of communicating with the “NATO allies” played their negative role. For example, all of these aircraft’s barrage over Slavyansk in April is the result of a mechanical copying of the experience gained while ensuring the security of the elections in Liberia and Sierra Lyon. There 24-ki roared at a low altitude scaring Aboriginal people ("the effect of presence" - as it is called in American). After that was 2012, when the AA buzzing helicopter was a constant attribute of all football matches. It was believed that this played a positive role. It seems like friends calm down, and the enemies are scared. It was for this purpose that buzzing over Slavyansk at low altitude was intimidation. But one thing the natives of Africa - another Russian. Back in April there were repeated hits from small arms to the HB blades and, as a result, decommissioning (a set of blades costs $ 100).
    The next question is tactical formations and combat missions of attack helicopters. In general, I find it difficult to say anything here. Firstly, I am confused by such a tactical unit as a “couple”. She meets constantly. Indeed, when fulfilling the tasks of fire support of the NE against a serious enemy, it is not possible for a couple to build a "carousel"; for this, at least a "link" (4 helicopters) is necessary. As a result, security is not provided when exiting an attack. Okay, the month of April, they still did not respect the enemy, hoping for a chance. So no - they still mostly fly in pairs. All cases of confirmed “A” type helicopter defeat (when the aircraft immediately ceases controlled flight) are in the pair.
    Further interaction with ground forces is zero point five (on a 5-point scale). In most cases, there was no p / connection with the interacting unit (on the mobile). Communication encryptors were not used, although they are on all sides of the AA (this is generally beyond understanding).
    Due to distrust between the command of the Armed Forces, the National Guard and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, there was no real interaction between AA and aviation of other types of security forces.
    There is much more ...

      "Another thing is that tactical training is below the plinth." ///

      It's not just about tactics. And in the absence of modern SLAs and
      precision weapon systems. The box and mechanics of the Mi-24 are very good.
      But to shoot and hit today is quite possible without entering
      MANPADS range. From a few kilometers to a small
      altitude when the MANPADS operator does not yet see the machine and does not hear it.
      How do Apache attack. For this, of course, we need a radar and
      a bunch of add-ons that triple the cost of the car ...

        Dear voyaka uh, the fact is that talking about MANPADS is generally a topic for a separate thorough analysis. Propaganda is one thing, the real state of things is another. Here the interests of the propagandists on the part of “so to speak Ukraine” and the militia agreed. One needs to at any cost to drag Russia into the database participants on the territory of b. Ukraine, at least as a supplier of weapons, others intimidate the enemy allegedly by the presence of a large number of MANPADS. Actually, there are no authentically destroyed helicopters using MANPADS. I generally do not believe in the ability of any MANPADS, even of the most extreme generation, to shoot down an aircraft flying at an altitude of 3-5 meters. And the point is not in the declared characteristics. Land is not the sea. On rough terrain, the real detection and aiming angles do not allow automation to take the aircraft for escort.
        All real AA losses from the fire of small arms (I do not take into account SU 25, An 30 and other aircraft that belong to the Air Force).
        The entire decline of helicopters, not only clearly visible (of type “A”), but simply decommissioned after the formal completion of the mission, at least Mi 24, even Mi 8 from multiple hits of handguns. Roughly speaking, when the helicopter returns as a sieve, it will not go on a second flight. Here, all AA fell into the trap of propaganda. Indeed, protection against MANPADS is a flight at the lowest possible height, protection against small arms is a flight as high as possible in order to increase the system error of aiming. Advocating the presence of a large number of MANPADS allegedly delivered from Russia, the command itself drove the pilots to an extremely low altitude. Where even from the experience of the Second World War: "... everyone who has a weapon considers it their duty to shoot a stormtrooper ...". The consequence was a large number of destroyed and decommissioned helicopters, as can be seen from the article with the help of guns from the AK to the BMD and RPG guns.
