It is reported from Tel Aviv that in the near future India and Israel will enter into a contract, estimated at $ 500 million, for a tender approved by the Indian government for the supply of anti-tank missiles and their licensed production.
At a meeting on Friday in Tel Aviv with Indian Interior Minister Rajnath Singh, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon noted that the deal with the state-owned Rafael concern, the manufacturer of Spike / Gil anti-tank systems, was recently approved by New Delhi.
"More recently, the Indian government approved the purchase of anti-tank missiles from Raphael," said Ya'alon.
"India and Israel have common interests, and there is tremendous potential for cooperation between our armed forces ... thanks to the capabilities of the Israeli defense industry," said Yaalon.
The estimated $ 500 million deal includes the delivery of 8000 medium and long-range anti-tank missiles tested in combat over the past ten years in Gaza and Lebanon.
Sources claim that the agreement includes a license for the joint production of complexes in India.
At a meeting with Singh 6 on November 2014, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that both countries are “entering a new era of expanded cooperation.”
