Wargaming.net League changes format
Professional World of Tanks tournaments will be more spectacular and dynamic.
6 November 2014 - Wargaming has announced a new mode for eSports tournaments within the Wargaming.net League. Starting next season, all World of Tanks competitions will be held in Attack / Defense format instead of Standard Fight. The new rules passed several stages of testing and were approved by professional players from the Wargaming.net League.
“We were pushed by the participants and fans of professional tournaments in World of Tanks to create the Wargaming.net League, and in the development of the League, we focus primarily on their wishes,” said Alexey Kuznetsov, head of eSports division of Wargaming. “The Attack / Defense mode is the result of a joint effort of developers and cybersportsmen who add to the World of Tanks tournaments and exciting moments.”
“Wargaming is one of the few companies that really listen to the players,” said Natus Vincere player Dmitry SL1DE Frishman. “We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in the development of the competitive component of World of Tanks.”
In contrast to the “Standard Fight” mode, the “Attack / Defense” mode sets strict limits on the set of equipment and the number of people in teams. Only full teams consisting of five 8 level machines and two 7 levels or six 8 levels and one 6 level are allowed to play. The use of technology 1 – 5 levels is prohibited. In addition, Attack / Defense sets specific tasks for each team: one at the same time defends two bases, and the second tries to capture them.
New rules will increase the role of assistive technology, giving all players the opportunity to contribute to the victory of the team, and a clear distribution of roles will reduce the likelihood of a draw and increase the dynamics of matches.
Cyber sportsmen will have a season to study the new regime and prepare for the final League tournament.
