Yet we are a people ill adapted to be liked by bohemians. Everything is not so in us: dark faces, gray clothes, rude manners. We smile a little and loudly rest. We are chauvinistic, imperialistic, aggressive, suspicious. We are not inclined to representative democracy.
We are not at all like normal, decent, cheerful peoples - Hutsuls, Czechs, Romanians, Poles and Hungarians. We have neither Solidarity nor Maidan. We ourselves are submissive and aggressively react to the manifestations of Freedom in others.
Our Russian World is a dangerous, incomprehensible, evil something.

Not because we need to expand our area of responsibility in the territory with resources. Not because we need to convert power into power, but power into money. And because we have been observing how others are doing this for several hundred years, and we understand that these occupations are incompatible with the survival of the human race.
Because Russian culture has come to the realization that our neighbors are everything, and there is no one else on this planet.
... So after all: why do we have such gloomy faces on this celebration of a galloping life?
We have lean and gloomy faces on this holiday because, unlike jumping teenagers who seized the ancestors' bar, we understand that we will have to pay for everything. And well, if only in money.
The Russian world is a cultural community of bearers of the idea of responsibility for the enlightenment and education of humanity.
Not because we are the smartest, kindest, most talented. But because our historical experience, our culture obliges us to accept this responsibility in order to avoid the most unpleasant consequences.

What happened inevitably happened to us if we had enough pride and courage to be what our ancestors were all Russian history to be Russian.
Pride enough. Now there should be enough intelligence, patience, love, and much more.
We are overtaken by Russian history. We are overtaken by Russian fate. We are overtaken by Russian destiny.
It is easy to idealize the people, pushing all the moral costs, all the mistakes, all the tragedies of historical decisions to the general secretaries and kings. Now times have changed. The kings and general secretaries cannot take over everything - they are forced to share part of the responsibility with the whole nation.
No monarch can protect us from the experience of history.
This year, the Russian people, after a long break, returned to history, and historical events began to occur again with us.
This is where this heaviness on our shoulders comes from, which we have been feeling for the whole last year. This is it - the story - flows through our arteries again. It is she - our destiny - that looks into our eyes again and again. This is our destination — it rests on our shoulders again, like the firmament on the shoulders of titanium.
And this means that most of us must, by some miracle, find in ourselves the forces worthy of our history. Such as not to spoil the plot. Such as not to spoil the tragic pause inappropriate hysteria.
It is necessary to have a collective head, worthy of Monomakh's cap, and a neck that can withstand its severity.
This is an additional reason for some gloom.
However, there is a reason for congratulations. We, the citizens, can be congratulated on their return to history.
