“This decision is an important step in the development of the holding. The right to carry out foreign trade activities allows Russian Helicopters to strengthen their positions in traditional markets, and also provides an opportunity to expand their presence in the world by entering new markets through an after-sales service system. - commented the General Director of Rostec Sergey Chemezov, State Corporation. “At the same time, if the holding’s experience turns out to be as successful as we expect, we will consider the possibility of scaling this scheme to other enterprises of the corporation.”
Currently, more than 5500 units of military helicopters of Russian (Soviet) production are operated in the world. In the period from 2001 to 2014, more than 740 of new military helicopters were delivered to the interests of 39 countries under the contracts of the state mediator Rosoboronexport OJSC. Formation of an effective after-sales service system with respect to these helicopters is one of the priorities of OJSC Helicopters of Russia.
“We assume that the new status of Russian Helicopters will significantly increase the company's profitability due to the growth of the service component of the business, which will generally increase its competitiveness,” said Alexander Mikheev, General Director of the Russian Helicopters holding company. Direct interaction with military helicopter operators will increase efficiency of service delivery, increase the portfolio of existing orders, and also make holding companies more competitive in the context of globalization of world markets .
Previously, the holding's enterprises participated in after-sales service only as co-contractors in cooperation with the defense industrial complex Oboronprom. The delivery of helicopters for military purposes is traditionally carried out by the partner of the Russian Helicopters holding company Rosoboronexport, the state intermediary for the export / import of the entire spectrum of military end products.
