Ukrainian human rights activists are demanding a criminal case from the Russian IC to investigate the beatings of a detainee allegedly held in the detention center on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act in the Crimea by the Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov. Oleg Sentsova's sister, Natalia Kochneva, stated that she was confident in the truth of her brother’s words about the beatings by the FSB officers. She reported this to the Crimean branch of Radio Liberty - "Crimea. Realities ».
Jenny Kurpen, the lawyer of the suspect in Sentsov, says that she sent a request to the RF IC to file a case in connection with the “tortures of Sentsov in the SIZO”. Information about “torture” was allegedly presented to her by Sentsov himself, who claims that he was beaten in the detention center, put a bag over his head and strangled.
The lawyer of Oleg Sentsov received a response from the Russian investigating authorities of the following content: we will not initiate a criminal case, because in due time in the apartment of the suspect Sentsov there were discovered objects of sadomasochistic orientation; and if he talks about some kind of beatings and torture, then he could well have beaten himself in the cell if this gives him pleasure ...
This response is outraged in Ukraine. And why, then, answers of such a nature as “they set themselves on fire” and “they shot at themselves” in Ukraine is not accepted to be outraged?
