The ekranoplan "Burevestnik-24" undergoes pilot operation in Yakutia
According to AviaPort news agency, the prototype of the Burevestnik-24 ekranoplan passed the first tests and is currently in trial operation. In parallel with the pilot operation of the first experienced WIG, the construction of the second prototype is underway. He should come to the test later. According to the latest plans, in the spring of next year the new car will begin to transport passengers on a commercial basis. "Petrel-24" will run between Yakutsk and Olekminsk.
In the course of testing, the ground-winged ground-driven vehicle "Burevestnik-24" made various flights across the territory of Yakutia. Earlier it was mentioned that the apparatus transported people and goods from Yakutsk to Sinsk, Pokrovsk and Best. Now the task has been set to launch the first commercial line using the new ekranoplan. A flight on the route “Yakutsk – Olekminsk” in one direction, taking into account several intermediate stops, should take about 5-6 hours.
The dimensions and characteristics of the Everlasting Vehicle "Petrel-24" allow you to carry up to 24 passengers with luggage, which is reflected in its name. It is noteworthy that the company "Sky and Sea" has consistently created several ekranoplan projects based on common ideas. First came the passenger car with 16 seats. Then the number of passengers was increased to 20, and the modification now being tested is the third development of the family. Previous projects allowed to test and fine-tune the design of a ground-winged vehicle, so that the last at the moment "Burevestnik-24" is already considered as a full-fledged means of passenger traffic.
The new ekranoplan "Petrel-24" has an original design, which, allegedly, provides it with relatively high performance. The machine has a characteristic fuselage. Its nose and middle parts have a section close to rectangular, and the tail section is divided into two beams, which are the basis for two keels. On the keels, in turn, is the horizontal tail.
The bearing planes of the aircraft are built according to the "poluoraplan." The ekranoplan has a developed upper straight wing, located in the middle part of the fuselage. Under it is the lower wing of small elongation and large thickness, having a shape close to the disk. At the tips of the lower wing, floats are fixed for taking off from the water and landing on it.
The power plant of the ground effect vehicle consists of two AviaSmart B-V12K 12 hp 412-cylinder piston engines. each. The engines are located in closed engine nacelles on the upper wing. The power plant is equipped with pushing screws enclosed in annular channels. The first version of the Petrel-24 project used six-blade screws. According to the test results, it was decided to use propellers with four blades, more suitable for use in the Yakut climate.
In the design of a ground-driven vehicle "Burevestnik-24" carbon fiber and composite materials are widely used. In addition, the design of the aircraft is made of several modules. Such architecture allows, if necessary, to disassemble it and immerse it in a standard sea container for transportation to the right place. After delivery, the ground effect vehicle is relatively quickly assembled and prepared for operation.
The curb weight of the wig reaches 4 tons. The payload is up to 3,5 t. This can be an appropriate load or up to 24 passengers, the number of which is primarily limited by the number of seats. According to reports, the characteristics of the “Petrel-24” make it possible to consider it not only an ekranoplane, but also an amphibious boat. Depending on the need the aircraft can be used in several modes. At a speed of the order of 30 km / h, the Petrel-24 moves like a boat. With a further increase in speed, the device begins to glide, and when accelerated to 200 km / h rises above the water using the screen. The range of the apparatus is declared at the level of 2000 km.
At present, the first prototype of an Ekranoplane Burevestnik-24 is in pilot operation on passenger routes in Yakutia. The second prototype is being built and should join the tests in the near future. In the spring of next year, it is planned to begin the full-scale operation of new vehicles within the framework of the existing target program of the Yakutia government. The company "Sky and Sea" has plans for the further development of the projects of the Petrel family. On the basis of existing solutions and developments, it is planned to develop an ekranoplan capable of carrying up to 100 passengers. The timing of these plans, for obvious reasons, is still unknown.
