Kornet-EM anti-tank missile system will replace Strela air defense system? The Tula Instrument Engineering Design Bureau (KBP) at the upcoming Moscow Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2011 (Zhukovsky, 16-21 in August 2011) will demonstrate for the first time a new multi-purpose high-precision missile system (RK) “Cornet-EM” for long range, designed for effective destruction of ground and air targets.

According to a number of media outlets, in the aggregate of their combat capabilities, the new RK, as an anti-tank, surpasses its counterparts 3-5 times, is simpler to use, maintain, and uses ammunition, costing 3-4 times less than similar ones, and for targeting ammunition an automatic highly protected laser-beam control system was installed.

RK "Cornet-EM" - is designed to combat modern and promising tanks with dynamic protection, lightly armored vehicles, surface and air targets (UAVs, helicopters, attack aircraft aviation), as well as hitting fortifications. To hit targets of this type in the ammunition complex there are 16 missiles, of which 8 are ready for use. In this case, all rockets of the Kornet-E family can be used. The Kornet-EM complex provides target destruction at ranges of 150 - 10000 m with remote-controlled missiles in the laser beam using an automatic control system with high noise immunity.

A salvo attack is provided simultaneously for two targets. A cumulative warhead with trotyl equivalent 7 kg provides armor penetration to 1300 mm. The transfer time from traveling to combat does not exceed 7 with. The complex implemented the principle of "shot - forget" through the use of technical vision with automatic tracking of the target. This allows you to exclude a person from the ATGM targeting process, increase the accuracy of target tracking under real conditions of combat use by about X times and increase the range of Cornet-E ATGMs at 5 while simultaneously significantly increasing the probability of hitting targets. In addition, the possibility of shooting at targets in automatic mode reduces the psychophysical loads on operators, the requirements for their qualifications and reduces the time for their preparation.

Placing in the proposed version of two automatic launchers (the mass of the armament complex with ammunition with 1 / 2 PU is 0,8 / 1,2 t) provides simultaneous firing at two targets, which greatly increases the rate of fire and fire performance of the complex. In addition, the "Cornet-EM" can conduct a salvo firing two missiles at the same target, which provides for the overcoming of active protection systems.

According to GUP KBP, a more sophisticated control system for the complex, the design of the engines of guided missiles and the target tracking machine increased the firing range of the ATGM complex from the KBCh to 8 km, and the RL from the FBU to 10 km. At the same time, the shooting accuracy at the 10 km range became higher than that of the Cornet-E base complex, the 5 km range.

Increasing the range and accuracy of shooting, auto-tracking of speed targets and the use of SD with thermobaric warhead with contact and proximity fuses ensured the use of a new ATGM to effectively combat helicopters, UAVs and assault aircraft at a range of 10 km. At the same time, the defeat of the air target is ensured during the overflight of the UR at a distance of up to 3 m (slip) from the target being shot. Thus, the Kornet-EM anti-tank missile system, if necessary, can be used as a short-range anti-aircraft weapon and can cover the battle formations of the first-echelon troops from the strikes of low-flying aircraft, helicopters and UAVs. In the figure, the affected area RK Cornet-EM Figure forums.airbase.ru

The Kornet-EM anti-tank missile system includes a combat vehicle with two automatic launchers and an operator console, as well as UR with various types of warheads. An X-ray automatic shotgun with an 4 UR on it, has a sight with high-resolution television cameras and a third-generation thermal imager, an integrated laser range finder and a missile-guidance laser channel, as well as an automatic target tracking system with pointing drives.

Estimating the known main characteristics of the Kornet-EM anti-tank missile system, the question arises - can this complex really replace the short-range anti-aircraft missile system (ZRK) of the Strela-10 type on the battlefield.

(9K35М3, SA-13, Gopher) - one of the most well-known modifications of self-propelled anti-aircraft complex of short-range, which is designed to cover the troops and objects in all types of general arms combat in place and in motion from strikes visually visible low-flying aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles ( KR) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVS) in conditions of organized optical interference. The Strela-10М3 air defense system consists of combat vehicles (self-propelled BM on a floating tracked base, anti-aircraft guided missiles) and technical support equipment. Each BM with 8 SAM missile is equipped with a set of tools designed for target detection, aiming and firing rockets.

The Strela-10М3 SAM system with the 9М333 SAM includes the destruction of a target flying with a course parameter up to 3 km in the 0,8-5 km zone and 0,025-3,5 km in altitude with a probability of 0,3-0,6 one missile. The maximum speed of the targets hit when shooting towards (in pursuit) 415 (310) m / s, the reaction time of the air defense missile system is up to 7 s, the mass of the missile defense is 42 kg, the mass of the warhead is 5 kg. The complex provides shooting in motion, the maximum speed on the road (afloat) - 60 (to 5) km / h, the crew - 3 people.

Comparing the main characteristics of the Kornet-EM anti-tank missile system and the Strela-10М2 air defense system, it should be noted that the anti-tank system surpasses the anti-aircraft system in the maximum range of the aerial target. The remaining characteristics are generally comparable. Should it be concluded on this basis that the replacement of the first with the second with the second will be equivalent? According to experts, the answer must be negative, which is connected with the main purpose of these two complexes. If the main task of the ATGM is to combat ground, then the air defense system - with air targets. And here, as they sometimes say in such cases, everyone should “plow his field” for which there are a number of reasons.

The first. Each of these complexes operates, in accordance with the plan for the upcoming battle, as a rule, within the framework of the corresponding fire system: ATGM - ground forces, air defense system - anti-aircraft defense. At present, it is a generally recognized fact that the systemic use of weapons and military equipment in the centralized management of their combat use. For this purpose, planning of the forthcoming hostilities is carried out, and each tool is defined with the main tasks in order to achieve a common goal - victory in the upcoming battle.

Therefore, a deviation from the general plan and unreasonable independent actions on the battlefield can lead to defeat. However, this does not mean that commanders cannot take independent decisions and use the means at their discretion. However, such decisions must be substantiated by the actual emerging situation in the name of the final goal.

The second. Modern combined-arms combat is the joint actions of all the forces and assets participating in it according to a single plan and concept. With this in mind, each tool, incl. anti-tank and anti-aircraft, used to solve problems in its main purpose. Consequently, the anti-tank systems should solve, first of all, the tasks of fighting the enemy’s armored and other ground targets, and the air defense missile system with its air targets. And then in the general combat system, the ATGM, hitting ground targets, protects the air defense system from the effects of a ground-based enemy, and vice versa - it covers the anti-tank systems from enemy air strikes. And here the famous phrase of A.V. will be quite appropriate. Suvorov - "Every soldier must know his maneuver."

There are many more reasons for the above. However, this does not mean that the basic principles of the use of these complexes should constrain the initiative of commanders and be inhibited by them in making independent decisions. Both of these complexes are capable of conducting autonomous actions in the performance of the tasks set apart from the main forces, without mutual support and other specific conditions.

In such a situation, the Kornet-EM anti-tank missile system, taking into account the real situation, can be used to combat the air enemy. In any case, the responsibility for this or that decision falls on the person who made it, and the results obtained will be determined by the validity and relevance of the prevailing situation.

As output. ATGM "Cornet-EM" can not be considered as one of the main means of dealing with the air enemy. However, existing opportunities do not exclude its use, in some cases, to combat airborne targets.

If all this is true, then this is a wonderful shaitan trumpet. Well, about the arrival of such equipment in the army, it is probably not worth it to stutter, Hezbollah will receive earlier than ours.

It is tempting to test a new weapon in a real combat situation before taking it into service. Therefore, perhaps you are not far from the truth.

it is necessary to arrange a scandal like the Iran-Contra, sell the complexes to Tajikistan and those to the Taliban, the court is funny there, look at the results, to Chavez and the FARC, watch the helicopters fall from the "former" most probable adversary ... unless of course there are smart people with iron eggs ...

it is necessary to work with human rights defenders, not to kick) so that you are always at hand, it’s not a sin to shut down an organization that would take such functions, but rather not one
