During the first reception, organized by the new American ambassador to the Russian Federation John Tefft, the diplomat received a caricature of himself drawn by the artist of the RIA website "News" Vitaly Podvitsky.
The figure shows the entire journey of Tefft, depicted in a satirical style - with espionage equipment and a suitcase of dollars, which he passed as a diplomat and representative of the United States after the collapse of the USSR: Lithuania, Ukraine, Georgia and Russia.
“When I studied at Georgetown University, I wrote a paper on political caricature by Honore Daumier, who was a great French artist and cartoonist. The caricature is very close to me, and I appreciated how you portrayed me, ”said Tefft.
It is worth recalling that 8 of September, John Tefft, handed over copies of his credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, taking the vacant seat of the American Ambassador to the Russian Federation, which Michael McFaul left in February. Tefft's candidacy was proposed by US President Barack Obama on July 11 after receiving an appointment for appointment from the Russian Federation. 1 August was approved by the Senate.
