Russia's security services this year prevented 35 attacks in the North Caucasus, reports RIA News with reference to the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC).



In terms of the terrorist threat, the North Caucasus is one of the most troubled regions of Russia. Last year, it accounted for about 98% of all terrorist attacks committed in Russia.

“In the course of counter-terrorism operations and operational-combat activities in the North Caucasus region, in providing armed resistance, 158 active members of the bandit underground, including 25 leaders, were destroyed. Detained 328 gangsters and their accomplices. 35 terrorist crimes prevented ”
says the message NAC.

However, according to the head of the FSB, Alexander Bortnikov, "there is still a threat of terrorist acts by certain gangs, which requires adequate countermeasures from the state."
