On this day, they can be a little more than everyone else, because this is their day - the Airborne Forces Day! August 2 is a holiday that celebrates "winged infantry" throughout the country: from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, from Sevastopol to Arkhangelsk. The Airborne Forces of Russia has its own capital, its own starting point, from which the glorious procession of “blue berets” began, the different generations of which have already been in charge of the interests of the Fatherland for the 84 of the year, fulfilling their tasks. This capital and this reporting point is the city of Voronezh, because it was here that 2 August 1930 was for the first time in stories the country was carried out landing from the air.
12 people performed parachute landing in a given area during participation in the exercises of the Moscow Military District. On the site of the landing of the first assault force in Voronezh, a monument has been erected bearing the name "Voronezh - Homeland of the Airborne Forces".
Its grand opening took place in August 2010 of the year, and three years before this event a memorial sign was erected at the same place.
Here - next to the monument - there are events dedicated to the Day of the Airborne Forces, where people gather who know firsthand what service in the Airborne Forces is. There is an opportunity to meet colleagues, remember the time of service, discuss the joys of past victories, pay tribute to those who are no longer, thank the veterans.
Another tradition of celebrating the Day of the Airborne Forces in Voronezh is associated with the paratroopers' procession along the main avenues of the city. Columns of people in vests and blue berets can be found on Revolution Avenue, Moskovsky Avenue, on other streets of the city. The tradition of organizing marches of representatives of the "winged infantry", of course, not only Voronezh. In the most diverse cities of Russia and other CIS countries, you can see paratrooper marches, to which the townspeople over the many years of their conduct, for the most part, managed to get used to.
Only a bus with a landing force can afford to jerk in the center of a million-plus city through a double continuous one.
Day of the Airborne Forces is one of those military holidays, which even those who have nothing to do with the Airborne Forces know well. The fact is that the holiday has a special charisma, a completely unique flavor, which is impossible not to pay attention.
Airborne troops participated in dozens of armed conflicts, demonstrating real courage and valor. The motto "no one but us", perhaps, most clearly expresses the essence of the Airborne Forces. It is a pride that the man had the honor to guard the interests of the Fatherland, becoming an integral part of the big army fraternity of people in blue berets. This fraternity is not for a year or two. It persists for life.
On this day, the “Military Review” team sincerely congratulates all those who have passed and are serving in the ranks of the glorious Airborne Forces, congratulates the relatives and friends of those for whom the abbreviation “Airborne Forces” is not an empty sound. He wishes the paratroopers not to lose contact with their colleagues, always remember the great exploits of their ancestors, give courage lessons to the younger generation. And also - bogatyr health, the symbol of which is the look of a real Soviet (Russian) paratrooper! Happy holiday! Happy Airborne!
