Russia began developing a new assault rifle - replacing Kalashnikov Concern "Izhmash" began to develop a new machine, which will replace the Kalashnikov machine. Interim Acting General Director of "Izhmash" Maxim Kuzyuk said that the new machine will be able to compete with the most modern analogues of small weapons The world.
According to the program, the replacement of "Kalashnikov" will be created from scratch. Upgraded machines will differ from the AK scheme, they will become more ergonomic, convenient in operation and accurate. The updated weapon will become modular: together with it it will be possible to use various additional devices and weapon systems.
The head of the Russian concern did not specify the technical characteristics of the new machine. "Izhmash" plans to continue production and modernization of AK 200-series machines.

After all, we already have the AN-94, why not improve it .... It seems to me quite a worthy and competitive machine ....

I doubt that anything more reliable for combat, dirt, and the impossibility of regular "cleaning" can be thought of fellow

It is high time! Don’t get it wrong, but the old AK 47 \ 74 has already worked hard, he has his pros and cons, he is suitable for ....... on our draft army, in what form it is now, but not suitable, for contract soldiers who have dedicated their lives to military service. BCC \ VAL is only for specialists, and as a common carbine / AK rifle is already morally obsolete, specialists order new receiver boxes, forend, ergonomic stock for their money to adjust the weapon for themselves when the M4 \ M16 has this by default.

It remains to wish success and incorporate into the new machine all the achievements of foreign and our schools.

Finally, I understand that the most reliable assault rifle in the world, but try to install modern sights, target indicators, and so on ... try to combine modern ammunition designs with it ... and many more aspects ... not even immediately you say ... a great car of the twentieth century, but it is time to change both materials and technologies and versatility and accuracy and aiming range, etc.

Funny news "started development". And you haven't even started since the 70s? You might think the aircraft carrier was laid down. Yes, various design groups can start at least every week, I understand it would be news when they passed the tests and started to launch the series.

All previous models of new weapons were adopted and produced in small batches, the weapons are good, but expensive and complicated, and this also reduces reliability.
I hope the new assault rifle will not yield to Kalashnikov in reliability.

Our military often spoke of interchangeable trunks so that there was a single base. And it’s time to replace the tree already, I have nothing against it, but it’s very a pity our forest, it’s time to switch to composites, they will be easier and the industry will get a push. But we need to create platforms for sights, we need sights ourselves, collimator, thermal imaging , nightly, and conduct hostilities at night when the enemy does not see anything. therefore, it is very important for us to begin to lead in this area!

In the production of AK-74M and a hundred / two-hundredth series, the tree is not used, only plastic.

The last “wooden” machine was the AK-74, a handle and fore-end made of glued plywood.

Replacing wood with plastic is not a solution.
The machine must, by definition, shoot automatically, which means its main feature is accuracy.
We have already developed machines that shoot without recoil, Well, where are they today. According to my deep conviction, as a person who has been engaged in the design of industrial facilities for more than twenty-five years, this is what the customer needs to do. The designer does not always immediately find an original and simple solution. There is a task on which sometimes there are a number of contradictions that do not allow deviating on decisions and originality.
It is necessary to give the opportunity to engage in the search for new solutions.
An example of such a search is the genius blowing Gryazeva and Shipunov. Nothing like their quick-firing guns have been created anywhere. DOCA
