The Russian Foreign Ministry called the UN report on the Ukrainian events hypocritical and biased
In particular, he said:
According to Lukashevich, the document distorts some facts.
He also noted that “there was no place in the report to fix the fact that the Ukrainian army and the National Guard radicals used the Grad multiple salvo fire systems at least four times, resulting in the death of 16 people and injuring a significant number of civilians ... ".
Nevertheless, according to Lukashevich, "observers could not ignore some facts of violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, as well as the brutal violence of the Kiev authorities, the concealment of which would have turned out to be a complete discredit to the mission."
The authors of the report did not ignore the “witch hunt” taking place in Ukraine.
“Kiev authorities detain everyone who is suspected of sympathizing with the militia, prohibit Russian TV channels and remove objectionable comments from social networks”- Lukashevich stated the facts. According to him, the document “talks about intolerance and extremism, attacks on members of ethnic and confessional minorities, facts of anti-Semitism”.
According to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, observers are right in the fact that “amendments to the constitution of Ukraine should undergo widespread public discussion, and not be prepared in private.”
Russia believes that UN efforts "should not be aimed at directly or indirectly justifying the violence perpetrated by the Ukrainian authorities, but at promoting a cease-fire and beginning Kiev’s dialogue with representatives of the East of the country in order to restore peace in the region."
