The annual report of the state security service notes that in recent years, extremism of Islamist groups has become the most serious threat to security in Norway.
According to the agency, approximately 50 people traveled from Norway to Syria to join the militants. At least three of them have already been detained in Norway on suspicion of involvement in the activities of terrorist organizations.
“According to our information, we are dealing precisely with the people who participated in the battles in Syria. Whether they came to Norway to commit an atrocity, or so far only on the way here, we don’t know, ”Bjornland said.
