A summit of the so-called business twenty took place in Australia, during which issues of trade and economic cooperation in different regions of the world were discussed. One of the important events for Russia at the last business summit is related to the proposal of Turkey. Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekchi offered Russia to fully switch to national currencies in mutual settlements. Reports about it RIA News.
Information about Turkey’s proposal to switch to mutual settlements in national currencies is confirmed by Russia's Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev.
The annual trade turnover between Russia and Turkey is close to 33 billions of dollars. Turkey is the eighth (in terms of trade) partner of the Russian Federation. If mutual settlements are carried out in rubles and Turkish lira in the indicated volumes, this will serve not only to strengthen the national currencies, but also to reduce the dependence of the economies of Russia and Turkey on the dollar upheavals on the world market.
It is reported that the Russian side is ready to accept the proposal of Turkey on the transition to trade and economic calculations in national currencies.
