Statement of P. Astakhov - Appeal to President of Ukraine P. Poroshenko

Statement of the Commissioner under the President of the Russian Federation on the Rights of the Child Pavel Astakhov - Address to the President P.Poroshenko Statement of P.Astahov - Appeal to the President of Ukraine P.Poroshenko
Military operations in the south-east of Ukraine are gaining ever-increasing scale. Peaceful people are dying. Only according to the confirmed data, 11 killed young children, the youngest of whom was just 5 months. The Kiev military have already destroyed the Topolek children's home, damaged the boarding school in Kramatorsk, bombed the children's department of the hospital in Slavyansk and the kindergarten.
In the combat zone in the south-east of the country there are several orphanages and boarding schools, of which they did not manage to evacuate orphans due to the complete absence of humanitarian corridors and the refusal of the Kiev authorities to offer the possibility of evacuating the civilian population: the elderly, women, and children.
Within two months, Russia accepted more than 180 000 refugees from Ukraine, whom we locate on our territory, feed them, provide them with everything necessary for life. Among them are more 22 000 children. There are also children left without parental care, who left with their guardians and as part of family orphanages. We do not make differences, do not find out the nationality, political and religious beliefs of these people. We accept all those who flee from massacre and destruction from the modern European country of Ukraine.
In this difficult humanitarian situation created by the Kiev authorities, with complete unwillingness to resolve the conflict peacefully and refuse to create humanitarian corridors, open humanitarian missions, accept humanitarian aid from Russia, orphans and children left without parental care were the most vulnerable. Especially in Donetsk and Lugansk regions, where, together with a lack of funding, they are in mortal danger every second. In Ukraine today there are more than 90 000 orphans, and the civil war unleashed by Kiev politicians brings new suffering every day, the pain of loss and increases orphanhood.
The Russian Federation accepts and will accept all those who legally cross the state border in search of asylum and those who are in real danger of extermination. We declare readiness to accept orphans and children left without parental care, as Russia today has such an opportunity. In the 2013 year alone and 6 months of this year, more than 100 orphanages have closed in us, in which we can accommodate Ukrainian orphans if necessary.
We appeal to the President of Ukraine PA Poroshenko. Stop killing your own people, killing children! Protect the most vulnerable - orphans of Ukraine! If you are unable to do this - give them the opportunity to go to Russia. We will help unfortunate and disadvantaged children, accept them as relatives, provide them with everything they need and find good adoptive parents. Orphans should not be held hostage to your military and political ambitions!
