Historical parallels suggest sad thoughts
A peculiar "discovery of America" was recently made by Alexey Pushkov, head of the international affairs committee of the State Duma of Russia. He said that relations between the United States and the Russian Federation had entered a confrontational phase: “Let's not be mistaken? This is a choice against the normalization of relations with Russia. Therefore, they chop off all contacts, all ties, stop all negotiations. ”
Thus, what many have already guessed for a long time, was finally announced at a fairly high official level. And now, hopefully, there will be noticeable changes in the rhetoric of the Russian authorities (where completely inappropriate definitions like “our American partners” continue to sound, or even “friends”), and in essence of the RF state policy, which it’s time to clear all sorts of pro-american "bookmarks" and "pads".
Taking into account such a significant change in the basic paradigm (and Pushkov is by no means the same person who is inclined to engage in gag), we will try to assess the moral and legal positions of the two largest nuclear-rocket powers of the planet from this moral confrontation. Bearing in mind that “God is not in power, but in truth,” correlating these positions with basic principles and values is not only of abstract and philosophical, but also of practical and political importance. In the global geopolitical and even civilizational conflict that is emerging before our eyes, it doesn’t matter to which humanity has morality and right.
So, from this point of view, the US policy towards Ukraine does not just stand up to no criticism, but is directly outraging those sacred principles and historical traditions for which more than one generation of citizens of this once truly great democracy prayed.
It is worth starting at least from the fact that Western and first of all American propaganda describes the actions of the Russian population of Donbass that rebelled against the Kiev authorities in almost the same terms in which the British Empire’s rebellion against the legitimate authority of the British monarchy more than two hundred years ago . In the eyes of London at that time, J. Washington, T. Jefferson, B. Franklin, and other US pioneers were no more than leaders of armed gangs — the same “terrorists” and “separatists” as the militias of Donbass are now in the view of the Kiev junta. Almost no difference! Both those and others "encroach on the territorial integrity of a sovereign state", organized an "armed rebellion against the legitimate authorities" and "threaten the security and rights of civilians." But in one case for America these are “national heroes” and “founding fathers”, and in the other, exactly the same, “bandits and separatists”.
The complete absence of elementary logic in this case, as they say, is striking. The United States must either condemn the history of its foundation, or recognize that other nations have the right to exactly the same thing. Indeed, in fact, it is completely incomprehensible what is the fundamental difference between the struggle for the independence of the American states and the current New Russia. In both cases, this is the natural desire of peoples for freedom and self-determination and the struggle against the colonialist state that is deeply alien to them. Moreover, unlike the North American states, which never had another statehood and were originally a colony of Great Britain, Novorossia, now fighting for its freedom, was an organic part of the Russian world and the Russian state long before the state of Ukraine appeared on this planet. So the struggle of the New Russians, from the point of view of the criteria of the Americans themselves, is even more legitimate than their own.
Thus, we have to state the first - the historical incorrectness of America. But not the last.
The United States as a “great democracy” was originally built on the absolute priority of human and citizen rights, which politically expressed in the form of multi-party democracy, free elections on an alternative basis, and unconditional protection of democratically elected authorities. In the case of modern Ukraine, the American “cradle of democracy” has acted in the most shameless and treacherous manner, having virtually completely eradicated its own fundamental ideals. That is, in fact, embarked on the disastrous path of its fatal inner rebirth. No matter what the Americans say today in their justification, whatever fairy tales they have written on the God-bearing nature of Kiev Maidan, the “medical fact” is this: “democratic” America recognized without any hesitation the fact of the overthrow by a legitimate, democratically elected and internationally recognized Ukrainian gang armed street thugs who neither legally nor actually represent the interests of the majority of the population of this country. The fact that this somersault is contrary to the fundamentals of law is evidenced by the fact that even American officials, until the very last moment, stated that “it is the legitimate President Yanukovych who should lead Ukraine further into the future.” But as soon as the rebels seized power, Washington immediately changed its mind to the exact opposite. Agree, to find in such metamorphoses at least a hint of compliance with some fundamental principles of law is practically unrealistic task.
Thus, the United States and in this perspective completely failed the exam, even on the minimum legitimacy of their actions.
But that's not all. America desperately does not want to admit that the current actions of Novorossia and Russia practically copy the recent policies of the West itself, which ardently and absolutely unanimously supported the “restoration of historical justice” in the form of the reunification of a single German nation within one state. It was under this slogan that the truly unnatural Berlin Wall, which divided the united people, was broken, and the sovereign right of any nation to state unity triumphed. But exactly the same, in which the United States at one time unequivocally supported the Germans, they today equally unequivocally refuse the Russians! Which today are exactly the same divided people (and, the largest in the world), what were the Germans before their reunification. The logic here, as in the case of the US refusal to defend democracy in Ukraine, is only one - purely imperial and geopolitical, and it reflects only the predatory interests of the West itself, but not its respect for fundamental legal principles and freedoms.
Thus, the West is already three times wrong in its current attitude towards Russia and the Russians. Moreover, it is wrong fundamentally, at the level of entering into a confrontation with its own moral and legal basis. After all, you see, it is ridiculous to deny the right of the same people of Crimea to join Russia, despite the fact that 99 does not want to hear about any percent of the population of the peninsula of Ukraine. Moreover, the objectivity of the results of the Crimean referendum is so indisputable that even the West did not have the audacity to question them.
And it’s not at all that the fact that it is in their own geopolitical interests that the USA decided to support in Ukraine does not climb into any gates. Not only did the United States have actively helped to overthrow, albeit, a rotten, but still legitimate Ukrainian democracy, they also contributed in every way to the coming to power of frank Nazis in this country! On the brown essence of which, as they say, there is nowhere to put a stigma.
America’s treason of its own recent history, the hundreds of thousands of American soldiers and officers who put their lives on the altar of victory over German Nazism and allied Japanese militarism, is a fact so obvious and glaring that it would be considered as a mere spit in the American flag is impossible. Only the deaf-blind (and even the American State Department) does not see the obvious fact that today's allies and proteges of the USA in Ukraine are ardent admirers of the SS men from the Halychyna division, accomplices of Hitler's executioners from the OUN-UPA (who destroyed hundreds of thousands of Poles and Ukrainians) members of the Ukrainian police zonderkommand, on whose conscience ruined lives of over a million Jews killed in western Ukraine. Direct support for neo-Nazism is the fourth US crime against its own history and its once-high moral principles. Especially crying against the background of the fact that Ukrainian Nazism has already been marked by a series of bloody atrocities, quite comparable with Hitler's, the apotheosis of which was "Odessa Khatyn."
And finally, the last and, perhaps, the most scandalous. The American authorities fully support and even applaud the so-called “anti-terrorist operation” of the Kiev junta in the east of Ukraine. And despite the fact that the actions of the Ukrainian armed forces every day acquire more and more obvious signs of mass ethnic cleansing, that is, genocide, which is a grave crime against humanity from the point of view of international law! In particular, it was for such crimes that the United States itself was tried and severely convicted the Nazi war criminals at the Nuremberg Tribunal in 1946. But what's more, Washington persistently closes its eyes to the fact that these "purges" are carried out by cruel, barbaric methods themselves, when densely populated territories indiscriminately are fired upon with heavy artillery. When entire villages, together with their population, are swept away from the face of the earth by air strikes, when deliberately un aimed fire from multiple rocket launchers is fired on residential areas and types prohibited by international law are used weapons - the same cluster bombs.
In America, many people probably think that the end justifies the means, and therefore they see it through their fingers. But the rest of humanity to think in this way there is no reason. And, despite the dense smoke screen created by the US global media machine around the events in Ukraine, the crying truth about the true state of affairs in this country is gradually beginning to reach the consciousness of even the completely woozy propaganda of the western man in the street.
Thus, in the beginning of the Russian-American confrontation, the fact of which is finally officially recognized, all legal and moral arguments are on the Russian side, and the United States, put in an extremely disadvantageous position by the logic of historical development, has to flout its own ideals and principles in order to achieve short-term egoistic goals. And since God is really not in power, but in truth, it would be a great sin for Russia not to take advantage of this decisive advantage. And it’s even more wrong to not give this advantage the exceptional value that it undoubtedly has. In this sense, the moral victory really is the mother of all other victories.
