Soyuz launch vehicle with Meteor-M satellite launched from Baikonur cosmodrome
“The launch was successfully carried out at 19.58 Moscow time from the launch complex of the 31-th site of the Baikonur cosmodrome,” the press service reported.
It is noted that the upper stage separated from the launch vehicle at 20.07 Moscow time, continuing “the launching of satellites into the target orbit in accordance with the flight timeline”.
The first to go into orbit was the remote sensing satellite "Meteor-M" number 2, then alternately other ICA.
The meteorological satellite "Meteor-M" number 2 is the second device of the complex of meteorological and oceanographic support "Meteor-3М". The first Meteor-M was launched into 17 September 2009 orbit.
The main purpose of "Meteor-M" 2 number is the operational acquisition of global hydrometeorological data for weather forecasting, monitoring the radiation situation and the ozone layer, monitoring the sea surface.
The satellite’s mass is 2778 kilogram, its payload is 1250 kilogram. The term of active work of the device is five years.
In addition to Meteor-M, the Relek spacecraft of the Lavochkin Scientific Production Association, the first private spacecraft DX1, produced by Dauria Aerospace, as well as other ICAs belonging to the United States, Norway and the United Kingdom, was put into orbit.
