A Ukrainian soldier entered Slavyansk, abandoned by the militia.
Ukraine celebrates. Ukraine rejoices.
Flags are hovering, music is playing, a rain of awards and titles is pouring on my chest and shoulders.
Ukrainian soldier, you won! Congratulations!
What did you see when you entered Slavyansk freed by you?
Did you see the joy on the faces of the locals? Did you see the jubilation? Did you throw happy women at your armored personnel carrier or tank? Pull your children?
Did you see people's happiness from the fact that you came? Did you feel united with these people? Were you happy that you are a Ukrainian soldier - a defender, a liberator, a guardian of life?
Did you feel what our soldiers felt in Pristina or in South Ossetia?
Did you see destroyed houses?
Did you see the fear in the eyes of people? Did you see hatred in those eyes?
Have you seen the fresh graves? Did you count them?
What did you bring to the Slavyansk liberated by you?
From whom and for whom did you free him?
Who came with you to this city?
For you in this city came the nationalists. For you came mercenaries. Ukrainian came after you, that is, whose special services are known.
What are they doing right now in front of your eyes? What are they doing?
They are looking for unreliable. They deal with arrests, interrogations, reprisals. They are taking revenge on the city. They put residents on their knees. They make them jump and shout “Glory to Ukraine!”, “Heroes of Glory!” Right next to the fresh graves of relatives and neighbors.
How do I know this?
And it just happened.
And Ukrainian politicians and journalists came for you.
What are they doing now?
They are lying. They shoot footage. They take fake interviews.
Watch them carefully. Watch it. And listen. And don't you dare to close your eyes and plug your ears.
They told you that the Slavic are not local residents, but terrorists. That they taught you to call people Colorado. They said that the Russians burned themselves in Odessa. That they told you how missiles from MANPADS are induced on air conditioners. That they tell you everything.
No, you suspected it before. That is why you so reluctantly went to this war. That's why you didn't want to follow orders. But you have a family. Children. Oath.
Therefore, it was convenient for you not to see. It was convenient for you at least a little, but to believe.
Until that moment, when you entered the city liberated by you and saw the work of your hands.
You did all this.
That you destroyed these houses. You killed those people. That you brought to this city evil, pretending to be people. It is you, the man himself, who has given people into the power of nonhumans.
Because lying journalists, corrupt politicians and Nazi bandits do not know how to drive Tanks and helicopters. They do not know how to bring howitzers. They do not know how to use anything but a machine. Yes, and that's bad. They can only betray, lie, punish, torture, rape and shout “Glory to the Heroes”.
This is all you did for them - drove, guided, shot.
You did a good job for them.
Are you satisfied?
You are not only these people put into the hands of the Nazi monarch. You are now giving her both yourself and your family, and your future. And children.
Payback is inevitable, anyway.
She can come quickly.
Or maybe in a few years. Or in a few decades. Maybe - when you are very old and weak, your country, your children will be ruled by those whom you brought today to Slavyansk. And they will order your children to continue your glorious exploits.
You will look at your medal, in which “For the liberation of Slavyansk” will be written in Ukrainian, cry and mumble that “oh, it was necessary then ...”
What was needed, soldier?
What was needed?
