Kiev at the state level is going to celebrate the anniversary of the Nazi accomplice
It is about a state holiday, which must be held on a large scale, and the Verkhovna Rada ponders these days. And what a holiday! The coming 150 anniversary in July next year is Metropolitan Andrey (Sheptytsky), a native of Austria-Hungary - head of the UGCC (Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church) from 1900 to 1944.
Already 227 deputies of the Rada of the declared 320 recently voted to make the 29 day of July 2015 of the year a national holiday and have already managed to request funding from the state budget for these needs. If approximately in this connection in Ukraine today, the topic of early parliamentary elections is being discussed, then this somehow alleviates the entire delusionalness of the “concerns” of the deputies with the “great public holiday.” And if it is exaggerated due to the fact that 227 voted will not be enough, then it is clear that this is Ukrainian karma. Or, if you wish, a feast during the plague ...
Now it is worthwhile to dwell a bit more on the personality of that person, in memory of which the Verkhovna Rada is preparing a nationwide holiday. Perhaps, Metropolitan Andrei (he is in the world of Count Roman Maria Sheptytsky) is a person who sacrificed himself for the people, and therefore the deputies decided to raise the memory of him even on Ukraine’s difficult days like a banner and carry across the country? Perhaps he died a martyr's death in the name of Christian values? Well, I do not. Modern Kiev by the word "sacrifice" means a completely different meaning.
Count-Metropolitan Sheptytsky is a phenomenon that the current government of Ukraine simply by definition could not fail to note.
The priest, who managed to be in the rank of parliamentarian, Russophobic propagandist and doctor of theology, distinguished by frank anti-Russian lectures and speeches, but at the same time, quickly changing the political color, depending on what power over him stood.
Sheptytsky received the greatest honor from his current colleagues, Russophobes (almost descendants) in Ukraine due to his activities during the Great Patriotic War. It is believed that precisely the “graph” Sheptytsky “blessed” the Bandera and other ultra-radical nationalist troops to fight the Red Army, partisans and Bolsheviks in general, which ultimately resulted in the struggle of the OUN-UPA and other “Square” ghouls with the civilian population, with representatives of other nationalities (Volyn Massacre, Khatyn).
From the first days of the war, the "Metropolitan" spoke in favor of the need for cooperation with Nazi Germany. The main and, of course, the favorite excuse for ukrohistorians - Sheptytsky's relatives were shot at the end of the 30-s of the NKVD - they say, and what you want is a righteous anger at Soviet power, and naturally the “main” desire is the future independence of Ukraine.
Future independence, I'm sorry, what? The man who was born in the kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria (Austro-Hungarian land), reflecting on the "Ukrainianness" - this is of course a strong argument. If we take into account that the “Ukrainianness” of the very same Galicia was presented by the Soviet authorities, then the talk about striving for independence of Sheptytsky looks simply amazing.
With great piety, Sheptytsky accepted the Kiev seizure by the Hitlerites, the seizure with huge losses not only among the servicemen, but also among the civilian population. Well, a true Christian ... Hitler received a congratulatory letter from Sheptytsky (spelling and punctuation of the source translation - PA IIP Ukraine, form 57, op. 4, d. 338, l. 131-132 - saved):
Your Excellence! As the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, I convey to your Exelecion my heartfelt congratulations on mastering the capital of Ukraine, the golden-headed city on the Dnieper - Kiev! .. We regard you as an invincible commander of an incomparable and glorious German army. The cause of the destruction and extermination of Bolshevism, which you, the Chief of the Great German Reich, set a goal for this campaign, provides Your Excellency with the gratitude of the whole Christian world. The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is aware of the true meaning of the mighty movement of the German people under your leadership ... I will pray to God for the blessing of victory, which will guarantee a long peace for Your Excellency, the German Army and the German People.
With special respect, Andrew, Count Sheptytsky - Metropolitan.
It is noteworthy that the letters of Sheptytsky to Hitler, as well as part of his very interesting correspondence with the Basilian nuns of St. Elias Monastery, both in the form of copies and in the originals, are preserved in the German archives (not counting the special archives of the USSR). In Ukraine, approximately from the middle of 1990's, the letters from Sheptytsky suddenly “disappeared” from the archives ... Strange, where could they go - archivists in any way, you know, cannot find them ... The answer is simple. For Ukraine, such information is taboo!
But no big deal. Sources missing. Here is one of the nun's letters to the “father” (TsGIA Lviv, f. 201, op. 4 "B", d.2663, l.1-4, 9-10 (quoted by: Dmitruk KE. "Uniatsky Crusaders : yesterday and today ". M. Politizdat. 1988, p. 272):
Sheptytsky also sent letters from "good" monastic souls to Hitler, apparently, so that he would like what was called the full program.
Before you continue the story on the "heroism" and "virtues" of Sheptytsky during the Great Patriotic War, you should turn to the epistolary genre of the same Sheptytsky during the First World War. At the same time, it is better to keep in mind the letter of the “graph” to Hitler (sample of 1941 of the year). For what? Well, for example, in order to compare the format of writing letters to the heads of other states, whose troops entered the lands where Sheptytsky carried the people "Christian morality". As a graphic example, the letter “Metropolitan” to Nicholas II of the 1914 sample from Kiev (spelling, punctuation and style of the source - Dobosh O., Archpriest. Unia in Ukraine. Vik XX. Kamyanets Podilsky. 1996 - saved):
From a letter (publication in the newspaper Novoye Vremya, Petrograd, August 1917):
Nothing like. 1914 and 1941. I managed to grow up a whole generation, turned over the European story, and Sheptytsky, it seems, anyway, to whom to write. The main thing is to be warm, light and satisfying.
Let's return to one of the episodes of the times of the Great Patriotic War.
From Sheptytsky's appeal to the Ukrainians, who were taken to Germany for work:
But neither the letters of the nuns, nor the blessing of the OUN-UPA from Sheptytsky, nor the flowery chants of the “Metropolitan” -uniath addressed to the “valiant” German “liberators”, nor the church brothers “graph” of tasks from Abwehr (the evidence of cooperation was presented during the Nuremberg process). The Red Army moved the "liberators" into the teeth, passing from the banks of the Volga to the Spree. And what about the "graph"? But suddenly he quickly ceased to dislike Bolshevism, forgot about “independence” and again noted a remarkable letter. This time the addressee was Stalin.
From the letter of Sheptytsky to Stalin (spelling, punctuation and style of the source - archive of the President of the Russian Federation, f. 3, op. 60 - preserved):
For all this follows you, Supreme Leader, deep gratitude from all of us.
In September, 1944, Sheptytsky "for joy" stated that Bandera is a great evil, and communism is a doctrine with broad world trends that has much in common with Christianity. He said that the Soviet power for Ukraine sent down by God.
A wonderful person, isn’t it ... But he helped Jewish children on Pesach with money and food - true, this is even before Babi Yar ... The nobility itself ... For such help, the Jewish community of Ukraine even recognized Sheptytsky as HOLYMAN (in 2008).
A few days after the letter to Stalin, Sheptytsky died. 80 year went to him. Among historians-conspiracy scholars with a pro-Bandera mentality believe that it was naturally the hand of Stalin ...
In general, for today's Ukraine, Sheptytsky is a hero, perhaps the most suitable. What kind of power, such heroes ... They decided to start preparing for the celebrations in a year. There is a thought that if Sheptytsky were alive today, such a letter would come out from under his pen:
Your Omnipotence, the head of All Victorious America, Mr. Obama! The people of Ukraine appreciate your love for our prosperous country and congratulate not only the golden-headed city over the Dnieper, but also the minds of many of the wisest Ukrainian political figures. I will pray day and night for you without straightening your knees. Always your earl, Metropolitan, Christian Andrei Sheptytsky.
