China and Russia do not want GMO

64
From now on, China does not want to buy genetically modified products. Russia, like the PRC, also wants to refrain from purchasing genetically modified products. Unanimity on GMOs is a new basis for strengthening Chinese-Russian friendship.

China and Russia do not want GMO

The other day the correspondent of the TV channel "RT" Alexey Yaroshevsky talked about this topic with experts.

Today in Europe they argue about bans and permits products with GMOs. And in the Celestial Empire they did it hard: from that time they decided not to buy corn from the United States.

Imports of American corn in the PRC declined significantly. The Wall Street Journal writes that American trading companies were short of more than half a billion dollars, because China was one of the largest importers of corn. However, in 2014, corn exports to China from the United States declined by 85%. There is one reason: in Chinese society, they don’t want to eat genetically modified products.

There is another reason: the desire of the Middle Kingdom to become as independent as possible from imports.

Torsten Pattberg, an agricultural researcher at the Institute for Basic Research, told the correspondent:

“China produces its own crops. He wants to be to some extent independent of too large volumes of imports of foreign agricultural products. And, as far as we know, representatives of the growing middle class in China take the products they buy extremely seriously. If you buy strawberries in China, which resembles strawberries externally and by its smell and taste, it is of no value to the consumer. ”

“RT” recalls that recently the Russian Prime Minister said that Russia wants to refrain from purchasing genetically modified products. Experts believe that Moscow and Beijing could start trading in corn and other grains.

And these experts looked like they were in the water.

The site Interfax It was reported that the importers of China intend to seek allocation of quotas for the supply of Russian grain to the country.

The official representative of Rosselkhoznadzor, Alexei Alekseenko, told Interfax that such an intention was announced during negotiations between representatives of quarantine services and business of the two states held in Manchuria: “We agreed that Chinese businessmen will turn to the government to give Russia a quota for the supply of grain they have a great interest in our wheat, barley and rye. ”

Comrade Alekseenko noted that Russian grain is now “passing” according to Chinese requirements: after all, the Rosselkhoznadzor guarantees its safety under the laws of the PRC.

That's not all: China plans to buy Russian rape. Alekseenko said: “A processing plant was commissioned in Manchuria, which will mainly use Russian raw materials, and, as Chinese experts have pointed out, imported rape should not contain GMOs.”

Oleg Butusov ("Reedus") recalls why the Chinese do not like food with GMOs so much. In total, the author identified three reasons. No, not theoretical, but practical. Those same, because of which, and "rebelled" Chinese society. And after the society - and the government.

First, in 2008, Americans experienced golden rice in Chinese — genetically modified rice enriched in beta-carotene. The product, as it turned out in December 2012, was tested on children, with the basic information kept secret from the parents. Because of the scandals in the press, Chinese officials who conducted the tests of "golden rice" were dismissed. Scientists also said that it is necessary to prohibit the importation of genetically modified crops into the country.

Secondly, there were reports of the death of tens of thousands of pigs in Anhui Province. It was believed that the culprit was corn "Xianyu 335" produced by "Pioneer".

Thirdly, in July last year, the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China allowed the import from the USA of three varieties of transgenic soybeans. But in Sina Weibo, where Chinese bloggers began to comment on the government’s decision, photos of mice with swollen organs quickly spread: they tested American soybeans on these very mice.

Then among the population polls were conducted. As it turned out, 78% of Chinese believe that GMOs can adversely affect people's health.

To this we must add that the "enlightened" democratic governments of Chinese prejudice against GMOs do not feed.

Take, for example, Latvia. There, in relation to products with GMOs everything is in order. Someone has to eat the American "corn"!

According to "City.lv" With reference to prodmagazin.ru, in Latvia they can lift the moratorium on the cultivation of genetically modified crops. This was reported in the Ministry of Agriculture.

The publication reminds that almost all volosts have signed a document in the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Latvia, according to which they declare themselves “GMO free zones”. However, the Ministry of Land Landing decided to discuss with local representatives “the possibility of growing GM crops”. The result is predetermined: in case of refusal, the “opportunity” will simply be imposed - as another “strict wish” on the part of the European Union.

“Mutant plants, on the one hand, are stronger than normal ones, therefore they quickly suppress and supplant the latter, but on the other hand, they live for a short time, multiply unpredictably and unpredictably, and almost immediately die. In some countries, where they began to switch to GM cultures instead of normal ones, they soon left with nothing and bought products abroad, which foreign companies were extremely happy about. ”

Unlike wise China, Latvia intends to grow just corn (N810), as well as rapeseed and beets. Then come the turn of soybeans and potatoes.

Today, in the homeland of GMOs, I mean in the USA, 70% of all corn is mutated, and soybeans and rape are already 96%.

As for the EU countries, then, the newspaper notes, the European Commission has already given the go-ahead for planting mutated potatoes and rapeseed. Protests in many EC countries do not care. Business is nothing personal. Many GM crops are grown in the US, and Washington is pushing the interests of its companies in Europe.

As for Russia, Latvians write:

“... our neighbor to Russia is difficult to understand. Since January, they have been giving full permission for planting GM crops, then ... Premier Dmitry Medvedev said the other day: Russia does not intend to import GM foods.

And there was a tiny chance that, from this summer, GM crops would not be planted at our borders. Most likely, the situation with the US sanctions has affected it. It was the States that were to supply GM seeds to Russia, but Ukraine "saved from mutants."

The Medvedev government, let us add to this, is indeed hardly guided by the situation. In April, after the submission of the government’s report, Dmitry Medvedev in the State Duma declared that Russia could feed itself without genetically modified products. “We do not know completely whether the genetically modified material is absolute evil or it does not contain such problems. Therefore, we need to see what will happen in the coming years. And Russia is capable of feeding itself without genetically modified products, ”he quotes. RIA News".

However, in December last year, when V. Putin demanded to develop a program to ban the import of GMOs, D. Medvedev, as if wishing to fulfill the will of the president in his own way, signed a decree on growing transgenic plants in Russia. Reported by Gazeta.ru.

It was about the regulatory legal act No. 839, signed by the Prime Minister of 23 in September of 2013. According to this decree, starting from 1 in June of 2014, Russia must introduce the registration of products with the content of genetically modified organisms, which, as the public activists assured, is a permission for it mass production.

According to the director of the National Association for Genetic Safety, Elena Sharoykina, the actions of the authorities say "about the absence of an agreed position on GMOs."

It turns out, let us add to this that the West imposed sanctions against Russia (primarily the United States) and a crisis in Ukraine hit Washington boomerang: let the White House push the interests of its farmers in Brussels, but now they will not pass in Russia.

We better try to trade with the Chinese.

And Dmitry Medvedev is recommended to make historical an excursion and recall the friendship of Washington and Moscow, held together by fraternal help in the form of “Bush’s legs”.

Finally, people have the correct understanding: you need to eat healthy food. GMOs are dangerous for the nation’s gene pool. GMOs are the money of unscrupulous owners of multinational companies. I am very happy for the people that I understood.

In addition to the impact on the gene pool of GMO products, there is another, and no less important.
        1. GMO plants are one-year. They do not give Seeds. The plants are barren !!! Those. for the next planting, you again need to buy artificially derived GMO seeds. All this technology is owned exclusively by 3 companies. It's not hard to guess where they come from.
        2. Fields after planting GMO plants need to be treated with special chemicals (It is clear where to buy, the price is regulated there). After that, no natural plant grows on this earth. GMO only! (It’s clear where to buy).
        3. The conclusion is simple: sowing on the cultivation of GMO crops, the country becomes 100% "NarcoProduct" dependent platform on the principle, pay-grow-eat. If you don't pay, then you definitely Buy food. But never again, you will not be able to grow anything.

Small clarification. Producers of GMO seeds declare that they are not one-year, but intended for planting 1 time, leaving seeds for breeding is prohibited by the contract of sale of seeds (everyone understands that there will be no second crop - why undermine confidence in the GMO culture).
The second - after the planting of GMO seeds, a horizontal transmutation of venerable bacteria occurs, which in turn transfers the transgene further to healthy crops if they are planted on this earth.

Anyway - "you are - what you eat" (Gillian McKate).

All this is well noted by S. Tarmashev in the book "Heritage", do not consider it an advertisement.

There are also disposable ones - the technology is called Terminator.
Hybrids are also kind of 'disposable' - you can sow, but the result is not the same - decay occurs. Example - maybe you saw sunflowers with several flowers on the roadside or at the boundary?
But about horizontal gene transfer, not everything is so simple. Rather dangerous is the transfer to wild related species. This is a separate issue and there really are a lot of problems.
Tarmasheva read. There, most likely, another hypothesis is played out - GMOs contain genes that specifically affect the human genome. Which, in principle, is not excluded today. A full analysis of the genome of GMOs is still expensive and hardly anyone has done this.

Russia needs to promote the whole world the Russian natural (organic) product. Even in the States, it is now becoming a very lucrative destination; consumers pay a good price. Russia has every chance to become a global supplier of natural agricultural products as well as berries, mushrooms, nuts.

If this were true, then all people were exclusively cannibals.
Serious scientists do not believe in the dangers of GMOs, and experiments and studies to prove their danger have already been recognized biased. If there is a threat of hunger, if there is nothing to eat - you can eat anything, but this can be relevant only for Africa.

I work in the field of biotechnology, our office creates industrial strains. True, they do not go for the benefit of the motherland, but for the benefit of one transcontinental corporation. For the homeland, unfortunately, does not give money for such research - there are no industrial capacities, many vitamin plants were closed in the 90s, which means there is no request for research.
Therefore, GMOs are all foreign, because people either left or work for a foreign business.
One thing is good - even in conditions of working for foreigners, cadres are forged in Russia, cadres work in Russia and get a normal (albeit lower than the average for Moscow) salary.

And as for the GMOs themselves and the harm from them, government research is needed, without lobbying for the interests of corporations that meet all the requirements of a modern understanding of the experiment. Because the data that are available either say that GMOs are harmless or so contradictory that they cannot be taken for granted.

      Opaque "nutrient" chains http://rusplt.ru/articles/world/fermeri.html

Global food companies are not fulfilling their obligations to respect farmers' rights and protect the environment.

None of the world's leading food brands, such as Nestle, Mars or Coca-Cola, fully fulfill their obligations to workers working for them on plantations, as well as to protect the environment, which suffers from chemicals used in agriculture .

The charity's Behind the Brands report by Oxfam, a British charity organization, reflects the activities of the world's ten largest food companies in seven categories: transparency in supply chains and operations, ensuring workers' rights, protecting women's rights, rational use of resources ( water and land), policies to reduce the impact on climate change, ensuring the rights of farmers who grow ingredients for their products.

The article is a good example of the use of GMOs as an instrument of geopolitics. Corn led to half a billion losses for the United States. The next item is a ban on soybean imports. There will already run into more. Then logically should follow a ban on the import of meat from animals fed GMO food ... it is difficult to even imagine the loss of the United States.
The article put a plus for the information, but there is also one drawback - the situation around GMOs as such is too inflated. Especially the definition of 'mutants', frightening the masses. Technically, everything is correct - GMOs are mutants. But! ALL plant varieties and hybrids and ALL domesticated animals are mutants too! And the vast majority of plants are obtained by chemical or radiation mutagenesis. And in the process there are multiple changes in the genome, most of which are not studied at all.
GMOs, or rather transgenic technologies, are just one of the tools of modern science and selection. And like any tool can be used in such a way. And like any tool, there are limitations in the scope.
At the moment, GMOs have no alternatives in some areas - for example. cheap production of recombinant proteins or other substances for pharmacy in plants or microorganisms. But PMSM for food production is still better to wait a couple of five-year periods.
And yes - I agree with the previous commentator - GMOs are best sourced and grown 'at home'.

Prior to experiments with GMOs, varieties and hybrids were created using SELECTION (if in botany) and crosses (including closely related) in zoology.
These are not the experiments of "Frankenstein chemists". But the path of selection is very extended in time and strongly depends on the growing conditions of plants.
It is also possible to "chemize" DNA in laboratory conditions. In test tubes.

Selection - this is the selection of individuals having the necessary new features for the breeder. The emergence of new signs is the result of a mutation. Mutations can be spontaneous and inducible. Spontaneous mutations, for example, are responsible for producing all breeds of dogs and cats. Also, spontaneous mutation is responsible for creating modern varieties of wheat from the mid 60s.
Since the frequency of spontaneous mutations is very low, they resort to induction using chemicals or radiation. Then the breeder selects the right individuals and crosses (if he can) to fix the resulting induced mutation in the 'normal' line.
Another way of introducing foreign genes is to cross with close and not very species. And it is also used in plants. Using this approach, genes that are not culturally introduced are introduced.
As for the vast cultivated areas of Russia, I agree, but not quite about the climate. They wrote and said a lot that in the 70s and 80s the USSR imported wheat, allegedly failing grain production. But they rarely remember that the USSR experimented with other types of grain. Those. not everything was as bad as according to the democrats wink
My opinion is that GMOs do not need to be demonized. Transgenic technologies are an instrument and they should not be prohibited, but they will learn to master perfectly if possible. But the use of GMOs in food has yet to be completely eliminated.

I apologize, I mean the so-called distant hybridization in plants. This is when they are crossed by pollination of closely- or not very related species. E.g. sunflower with all kinds of daisies or wheat with herbs - Aegilops, Agropiron, etc. This does not roll with animals smile Yes, and plants do not always receive full-fledged embryos and have to work in vitro. But if it succeeds, the people rejoice wink

Yeah, only ALL breeders sprayed crops with chemicals to increase efficiency and not wait 70 years. From the point of view of biology, GMOs are less safe than selection, since during selection, together with a "useful" mutation, we draw a lot of unknowns. With GMO everything happens pointwise, and all this hysteria is tied up by the media. What are the photos of swollen mice, the scientist wanted to become famous, poisoned them with all sorts of garbage and for 15 years these photos are everywhere, I can turn mice into even bigger freaks in a week and say that this is because of non-GMO wheat

I am glad that in recent years they began to focus more on China, and not Europe with the United States. Without abandoning the ideas of communism, without rushing from one extreme to the other, China confidently became a world power with which it is considered and wants to be friends. In the current situation, Russia simply has no alternative for breaking the unipolar world represented by the United States, except in alliance with China.
Regarding GMOs, indeed Russia and China can do without them, providing themselves, and not only with natural products. The gene-gen of nations must be protected, and not experimented on their own peoples, not knowing how these experiments will end. Americans and Europe will be able to tell in ... twenty years if they can.
An alliance with China in this area is another nail in the United States coffin.
And there are already a lot of such nails: gas cooperation, agriculture, the military alliance, joint space exploration, the rejection of the dollar in settlements among themselves ... and I want to believe that there is more to it.

They are parasites, parasites, living at the expense of others.

Only for some reason they use it mainly in that country where they created GMOs.
I do not call for the use of GMOs, but you need to leave the stamps that have been glued for a long time. Russia now has a unique chance to declare itself a GMO-free territory, which automatically increases the attractiveness of any "Made in Russia" food product.

China produces such poison even without GMOs that in 50 years it is possible only their population will decrease significantly, and if we continue to consume their products, this is ours.
They rent our lands and produce agricultural products on them, managing to harvest several crops using chemicals and fertilizers, after a couple of years of such exploitation, the land is literally dying, and we are the main consumers of this rubbish. Truly, the living will envy the dead (in the sense of GMOs).
And in general, China, in my opinion, is defending its sales market and their imperialists, by and large, do not give a damn about the health of their citizens, and even more so about ours.
Again, we are trying with someone against someone else to be friends on the principle that your enemy is our friend! Instead of leading a normal policy by ourselves without making it a hostage to the people of Russia.

And why do we need GMOs? Is it not better to restore the volume of agriculture at the Soviet level at least. Now in the area where I live nothing is planted at all. In the 80s, when I was a child, all fields were planted with something. Turnip, peas, corn, rye, potatoes. Now empty all overgrown with weeds. Herds of cows what were. Nothing now either. I understand that in our country agriculture was developed and could not cope with demand, but this is not so. And in tsarist Russia grain was exported altogether.

Is it not better to restore agriculture and raise a village.

China is abandoning US corn, not GMO corn, because they do not like to depend on one country, for example. and India. There is no connection with the fact that GMO corn.
Why China does not refuse GMO rice? Because all the rice on the planet. except peasants somewhere in the outback - GMOs. Both China and India grow GMO rice and are its main exporters. They will not abandon it themselves after the agricultural crisis, when China began to buy rice because they could not even feed them themselves, and India, which had previously switched to GMOs, temporarily became the leader exporter .
Also, they will not refuse GMO Soy, since there is practically no GMO soy in the world.
Russia has been doing everything right lately. instead of fighting with GMOs, prohibiting that not when it doesn’t work, you need to create control mechanisms and your scientific base so that you don’t depend on foreign suppliers of seeds, but create your own GMO =)

China and Russia refuse GMOs? Yes it is nonsense. On the contrary, imports of GMOs are increasing. China is exporting rice, cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage, garlic and other GMO products to Russia. Also, Israel exports only GMOs to Russia. Turkey, which had not "dabbled" in this before, and then, in 2012, began exporting GMO vegetables to Russia. Recently in St. Petersburg, the "greens" besieged and prevented a huge grain carrier from entering the port, which brought tens of thousands of tons of GMO soybeans from the United States. And these grain carriers enter St. Petersburg in a stream: one after another. If there are no GMO soybeans, then the whole sausage and semi-finished industry in Russia will stop. This is how you eat GMOs everywhere and you will continue to eat in ever-increasing quantities - this is called capitalism: that is, extracting the maximum profit at the minimum cost and spit on everything else ...

Genomically modified plants, as I recall, are intentionally made barren. And at the request of just the same all kinds of environmentalists. GMO producers make good money on this by selling seed every year. And since it is profitable for them, it is highly likely that they themselves will initiate these protests. The famine in Ethiopia is connected with this topic. There, for centuries, they have grown their wheat, low-yielding, but very resistant to drought. The mattresses offered them GM grain, also resistant to drought, but with higher yields. Ethiopians agreed on joys, received abundance in the first year, and responded to the offer to buy grain for a new crop that we ourselves now sowed the crops grown in a rich year. A wild crop failure happened. In addition, their wheat was somehow not stored.
Genetics in this case is just a tool. With a knife, you can slaughter a person, and sharpen the peg, and cut sausages (genomically modified). And all this is a struggle for the environment for 95% of the struggle for markets and the desire to eliminate a competitor.

I do not see optimism in deeds. China may say anything, but it is the largest importer of food. At the same time, he manages to partially export to the Russian Federation cucumbers, mushrooms, etc., which are also grown by methods that are not pleasant.
China is simply oppressing its food policy. Here I bought cheaper (for example, corn in the Russian Federation and in Ukraine, then they decided it was more profitable than wheat), then I resold prices here. The market is huge - a big gain.
RF is also the largest food market with an absolutely unprotected buyer!
If there are a lot of them in China, then for the Russian Federation it will be too greasy not to protect the local producer and generally fall into food dependence, which China just wants to get rid of (or rather diversify).
Therefore, the article is not about anything. Before talking about desires, you need to look at the realities and opportunities.

Hurray that the topic has been raised. Hooray that most of the comments are against GMOs. Then we go further - Crimea is a non-GMO zone! Weak? No! We have been working on this topic for 15 years. We do not prohibit vaccinations and vaccines, but we require their production without GM technologies. And the strictest quality control! The Russians and Ukraine have already had GM components in their food for a long time. In Crimea, any soybean is GMO. And without soy LECITHIN, find sweets and sausages ... Well, there are none! Look at the site - and "biosafety" in the same place. Now about People. We are against the War, aren't we ?! Then - there "Denon", mars, sneakers, nutricia and nestle in any form, monsanto, aventis, craft, similak, etc. But then selection must be revived. Science in agriculture. And what to do with GM apple trees in Pushchino near Moscow? Even the leaves are sweet? And how to live without GM peanuts? Especially the couch warriors? And to you, real Defenders of Your Fatherland - THANK YOU for your support in the fight against GMOs and GM components in food and feed. So let's defeat GMOs!
