How do modern civilian rifles: a report from the arms factory
The domestic market for hunting carbines is rapidly conquering ORSIS rifles. "Reedus" visited a private plant, which said a new word in the Russian small arms.
The release of modern hunting and sporting rifles under the brand name ORSIS (Latinized abbreviation for the phrase "Weapons system ") began in 2011. Just a year earlier, Promtekhnologiya bought for this purpose a part of the abandoned premises of the Moscow factory of automatic lines and in a short time turned them into workshops equipped with the latest technology. The machine park included unique equipment, both from foreign manufacturers, and developed by its own design bureau. The result is the only plant in Europe capable of producing barrels of this class.

Soon the company had ill-wishers who indicated that Alexey, the son of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, was on the Board of Directors of Promtechnology. Under pressure from the press, he was forced to leave the company - the rare case when the high post of a father prevented his son's career.
Today the company produces weapons not only under the ORSIS brand, but also under license from Austrian Glock pistols, Italian Marocchi rifles, carbines based on the American automatic rifle AR-10 and American carbine M-15 (Russian barrels, overseas components).

“The“ stainless steel ”is less demanding of care and in terms of its mechanical qualities it is the best that can be used for the barrel in small arms. In turn, 4140 can be subjected to the process of hydroxycarbonation, that is, chemical hardening, which allows you to get a barrel of high hardness and wear resistance while increasing the slip coefficient, ”explains the expert Lang Ivan Languev.

But corrosion resistance after such treatment and does not smell. Such trunks shoot well and for a long time, but they need to be carefully looked after, as the powder soot takes away moisture from the atmosphere, as a result of which acids are formed that corrode the barrel.

How to create a high-class rifle
With the manufacture of the trunk - the operation of the greatest importance - and the production process begins. First, the bore is drilled in the workpiece, and then it is contoured. This is followed by slicing - a trellis slowly walks along the trunk. The process takes place on the machine, but the master is constantly watching him. On the machine, a ten-ruble coin is installed with an edge; if it shakes by a millimeter, the process stops until the program crashes. At the final stage, the cutting of dol - small canals on the outer side of the trunk. Dola facilitate the trunk, due to the cut metal. The resulting longitudinal ribs prevent bending of the barrel, and also help to cool the barrel better. At the end of all these procedures, the barrel is polished.

At the same time, the details of the bolt group and the trigger mechanism are made - there are a lot of different processes here, it is impossible to describe everything in detail. After painting, all parts and blocks of parts are sent to the assembly shop, where almost the finished product is assembled. Then he is sent to the research laboratory for shooting.
“We get a rifle from the assembly site and install a working, specially tested sight. Our task is to get a group of three shots at a control target with a diameter of no more than 0,5 angular minutes at a distance of 100 meters. If two groups are formed, as it should be according to the technical task, the target goes to the Technical Control Department (Quality Control Department), a rifle for delivery to the warehouse. If the rifle, for some reason does not shoot, as it should, we give our comment and send it to the assembly area. There she is dismantled, modified, according to our comments, and again returned to the shooting. And so on until the malfunction is resolved, ”test shooter Alexander Shabelnikov explains.
If the rifle shoots regularly, which happens in this plant almost in 100% of cases, shooting for the bullet store of the Interior Ministry is held. After that, the weapon arrives at the final quality control, after which they assign it a number and fill it with a passport. It is important to note that every detail at every (!) Stage, even if it is just painting, passes through the Quality Control Department.

Design is not important, but important

“The rest of the models are more specialized: hunting, sports, and bodies, athletes, hunters, people who just like to shoot at targets, and“ sofa rambo ”take the“ tashka ”. The rifle has a really memorable look, especially since it has already appeared in computer games, ”explains Ivan Languev.

The reason for the success of this rifle lies in its balance in the broad sense of the word. It is not inferior to the direct competitors Blaser 93 LRS2, Steyr-Mannlicher SSG-04, Sako TRG 42, but it has several advantages. She has a very comfortable shot, including chambered for .338 - usually the return is “horse”. And at “tashka” all elements are selected so as to ensure the most comfortable shot: straight-line design does not give a collapsing effect, the muzzle brake reduces recoil by almost 50%. The butt is equipped with an adjustable cheek and butt pad, and in the folded position is securely held by a mechanical lock. In addition, the "Teska" is noticeably lighter than many analogues.

Note that, unlike other ORSIS models, it does not have a wooden, but a metal bed, which is manufactured by the contractor.
How many total rifles the factory produces is unknown — a trade secret. But, according to company representatives, the bill goes on for thousands of copies.
Currently, T-5000 regularly pass on state tests, which it passes confidently and "with a reserve." If it is adopted, then minor changes will be made to the design and the name will be changed. This is due to the fact that, according to the law, the samples adopted by the security forces are not allowed to be sold to civilians.
