BAE and Rheinmetall will jointly offer a car to Canada
This event followed the agreement on the creation of a joint group, signed by the two companies at the end of 2013, as part of a future application for participation in the Canadian MTV program (Marginal Terrain Vehicles - Very High Passability), for which it is planned to offer BvS10.
Rheinmetall Canada has many years of experience in supplying special equipment to Canadian government and conducting system integration. Rheinmetall will supply and integrate Canadian-specific subsystems, including remote-controlled combat modules, as well as provide technical support.
"Rheinmetall Canada has the technical ability and the possibility of delivery, we have been looking for to execute this program, and we look forward to close cooperation," said Tommy Gustafsson-Rusk (Tommy Gustafsson-Rask), managing director at BAE Systems.
"BvS10 is the original and best armored all-terrain vehicle," said Alain Tremblay, vice president of business development for Rheinmetall Canada. "We believe that it will provide the Canadian armed forces with the power and flexibility they need."
BAE Systems offers its 50 years of experience in delivering tracked all-terrain vehicles. Countries such as Sweden, the UK, the Netherlands, and France are exploiting BvS10. At the same time, more than 10 000 units (including the earlier Bv206) of this family of machines were sold worldwide. Soucy, based in Quebec, manufactures asphalt caterpillars for BV vehicles and, increasingly, for the larger tracked combat vehicle CV90.
Originally created for use in arctic and other difficult conditions, all-terrain vehicles from BAE Systems are also widely used in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief around the world.
BAE Systems' plant in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, is currently releasing new BvS10 for Sweden and is overhauling the BvS10 Viking fleet of British Royal Marine.
