Georgia again recommended not to rush to join NATO

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili arrived in Germany on a visit, where he met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. One of the main issues that the Georgian side wished to discuss during this meeting was Georgia’s possible accession to the North Atlantic Alliance. Reports about it Deutshe Welle.
In order to dot the “i” in this matter of principle for the leadership of Georgia, Angela Merkel immediately stated that at the next NATO summit, which is planned to be held in Wales, the question of joining the alliance of Georgia will not be raised. At the same time, Merkel, so that Garibashvili did not get upset after her words already at the first stage of the meeting, was noted on duty by the statement that Georgia is on the “right path of integration with the North Atlantic Alliance”, that “Germany is happy”.
At the same time, Merkel, as the representative of Germany “rejoicing for Georgia”, advised Garibashvili to establish a dialogue with Russia. To this, the Georgian prime minister replied that Georgia intends to show the whole world how to cooperate productively with both Russia and NATO at the same time. Garibashvili did not forget to tell Merkel what steps have been taken to de-escalate the conflict with Moscow, saying that he appreciates "Germany’s non-recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states."
He commented on the head of the Georgian Cabinet and the events in Abkhazia. He said that the new (like the old) authorities of Abkhazia Georgia does not recognize, but is ready for dialogue with Sukhum. With whom exactly Garibashvili is going to conduct this dialogue in the absence of recognition of the Abkhaz authorities remains a secret.
