D. Medvedev postponed the arms race until 2020

Russian President D. Medvedev postpones the arms race until 2020. Although the United States, having begun it in the years of the Cold War, after the collapse of the Soviet Union did not curtail it, but only improves it. For example, 23 March 1983, US President Ronald Reagan proclaimed a long-term research and development program, the main purpose of which was to create a scientific and technical reserve for developing a missile defense system with space-based elements. It was named the Strategic Defense Initiative (Strategic Defense Initiative), and it was unofficially called, for its fiction, the Star Wars program.

Since then, the United States has been constantly putting into operation one missile defense system after another, improving its strike-defense capabilities, weakening the already highly degraded nuclear missile potential of the Russian Federation. At the summit with the heads of state of G7 in Deauville (France), Medvedev, like Gorbachev, during the famous meeting with Reagan in Reykjavik in 1986, raised the issue of US missile defense, the creation of an European missile defense system. But, like Gorbachev, it was not possible to change the position of Washington. It was agreed only to “continue large-scale consultations”. Medvedev, back in Lisbon, in 2010, proposed creating a “sectoral” European missile defense jointly with NATO, so that the Russian Federation would cover and shoot down all ballistic missiles flying from the east and southeast, and NATO in turn should have covered Russia from the West. Straight funny - from whom? Push?

Before the summit in Deauville, the chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, N. Makarov, said: “We want to share missile defense technologies and create a single command center.” Confirming the course for the gradual integration of the Russian armed forces in the projects of the Western world.

In the case of construction of an European missile defense system (and it is already being created - there are agreements between Washington and Poland, Romania), Moscow promises to “respond”, but these promises are constantly distributed from the 1991 year. And NATO, as it continued to obstruct the Russian Federation from the west, continues. Now the block has good positions in the southern strategic direction. All comments, protests, weak "threats" remain verbiage, without specific cases. As usual, there were words that “the military are developing a plan of countermeasures,” that there will be a new arms race, “the security situation will roll back to the 80 years of the last century.”

At the summit, Medvedev dropped the tone and said that the “real arms race” would begin if the Russian Federation and the West did not reach agreement on the European missile defense only “after 2020 of the year”. It turns out that before this time we will observe how NATO strengthens its shock and defensive capabilities on our borders? It turns out that the 2020 year is the deadline for a NATO strike in the Russian Federation! Without fear of retaliation of its weakened SNF. Thus, the head of the Main Operations Directorate (GOU) of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, General A. Tretiak, reported a week before the Deauville summit that after 2015, when NATO members will deploy according to the European missile defense plan, anti-missiles Standard-3 (SM-3) Block IIA, PRO NATO will be able to shoot down Russian ICBMs. And after the 2018 of the year, when the Pentagon will deploy the SM-3 Block IIB missiles, it will be even worse - the anti-missile missiles located in Poland will already be able to "hit Russian ICBMs and submarine ballistic missiles." According to A. Tretiak, this was proven by the “research organizations of the Ministry of Defense”.

Although there are other opinions, the same Y. Solomonov, the general designer of the newest Topol-M missiles, RS-24 Yars and Mace, claims that there will be no threat from the American missile defense created by the Americans. “Non-professional conversations” and “hysteria”. There is an opinion that comrades from the military industrial complex and the military connected with them just want to knock out additional money for the defense industry.

True, the problem is that the retaliatory strike is unlikely to be possible with all the remaining nuclear missiles - the NATO unit has thousands of cruise missiles and plans only to increase their numbers. A very likely scenario is that by 2020, NATO will be able to destroy the vast majority of our nuclear missile potential in mines, at airfields, and in submarine bases. Missile defense is needed for a small percentage of rockets flied up. Yes, and the psychological moment is important - the pressure on the military-political leadership of the Russian Federation.

Our top military officials promise that by 2020, the Russian Federation will have a modern missile defense system and a military space defense capable of responding to all challenges: from the threat of NATO to the nuclear capabilities of China, the DPRK, and perhaps Iran. It will be based on the C-500, 100 systems of these newest systems, together with the C-300 and C-400 systems, will have to cover the European center of the Russian Federation and all borders along the perimeter. But the problem is that C-500 has not yet been created, and C-400 also has problems - the development of missiles for it, the low rate of commissioning. The big question is whether a full-fledged EKO will be created by 2020 or will most of the victorious reports be public relations.

If we are led to these "scarecrows" and "horror stories", as in its time the leadership of the USSR at SDI - again we will be left without pants. Medvedev is being "bred", this is obvious.

mitrich - there is another suspicion that by 2020 our ICBM, as a component, will die by itself from old age, otherwise not much that will remain and will have time to produce (a teaspoon per hour) will be installed around the country of Muscovy for show and complacency. By 2020, a generation of specialists who could come up with something and produce a new product in metal will naturally die out. I'm talking about high-tech mass "toys" related to the aerospace sector. Agree, but so far there are no fundamentally new products on the sales horizon - and the DEGRADATION of the industry rushes from all cracks. (I ask Sineva not to count KNOW-HOW, it’s just an UP-DATE)

      VIKTOR_UI,
who can argue that much needs to be changed, especially in terms of discipline, organization and the fight against corruption in the domestic military-industrial complex. You just look at the state of affairs too pessimistic, although I also do not swim in gold in order to see the state of affairs through "rose-colored glasses", and "Muscovy" is 1,5 days away by train from me.
One of my school friends, a former naval officer, used to say to me over a glass of tea: "One and a half thousand is certainly good, but for America, five will be enough." What am I talking about? About the fact that you are unlikely to break your opponent's nose with spread fingers, if you are not an expert in this matter, but with a clenched fist, it is almost certain.
In a possible "arms race", the United States is in a deliberately advantageous position in relation to Russia, and not even because of its superiority in technological development, but simply because the world financial printing press is in their power. Making us believe in their "indestructible" power is part of their strategy. After all, Russia consists not only of the army and the military-industrial complex, but also of many other things. So judge for yourself, friend, who will benefit if Russia tries to "catch up and overtake" the Pindos. Khrushchev already tried, only tore his navel.
There is an arms program until 2020, I personally am quite happy with it, and it must be implemented. We will do everything that is planned, no Pindos, yellow, black and speckled brown enemies will not dare to touch us.
      Did I convince you?

Your words about the implementation of the 2020 program, you yourself know who would be in your ears .., only I’ve got shitty assurance that they will again fulfill it by 71% (which is sucked from a finger), and nothing significant for the army ... Believe the fact that Russia has a REALLY terrible military ace up its sleeve ... I can’t even imagine it because the merchants of the Motherland would have leaked it for a long time. In the military-industrial complex, and in the management of the country, 95% of crooks were attached. For a qualitative leap, CONDITIONS are needed, but they are not yet - this is my personal view from SIBERIA.

Mitrich, you did not convince Victor_ui. This is a person’s position - to see the negative for decades to come. 2020 has not come yet, and they already know everything - they will defeat us, everything is bad with us, everything is ruined, we are worse ... Is it possible with this attitude to defeat someone? In my opinion, no. There was no money in the country, there was nothing to do and build, it was bad, they grumbled. Now there is a lot of money in the country, and they are allocated, and programs are being created, and things are being done .. but people like Viktor_ui will always find a bunch of minuses and will say that everything is bad with us, etc., etc.! .. It’s not interesting to live like that :)

Well, you turned down about my Pisssimism - I proceed from the simplest things ... if from year to year (you can say from decade to decade) the state of the ARMY and the military-industrial complex is getting worse and worse (we have an outdated technical and scientific platform), we ALL see extremely incompetent people, then let me ask you ... why should I be an optimist, TYPE IN THE MORNING WE WILL ALL WAKE UP, AND WE WILL get everything back on our feet, and in extremely short time ??? Everything in the world is changing at a frantic pace, and only we have complete stagnation in almost everything, or PR projects (thrashing).
GOD of trading is in our favorite.
There was no money in the country - or maybe less aligarchs needed to steal less in those years?
You say that now there are a lot of grandmothers in the country and now all the programs will work and things will be fixed ??? ... NO WITHOUT IT, why? And educated people are not needed right now (in fact, not in words, because we are all right to speak, but those on whom the development of the country depends on it are especially skilled). Veterans and pensioners are not needed and the sooner they die, the more wonderful it will be. ... this list can be continued more than one sheet ... no sense.
It’s very interesting for me to live, but I won’t be able to hang noodles on my ears.
WILL BE REAL WORKS IN THE GOOD SIDE - ONLY FOR, but - deleted - for me it will remain, even if it aromatizes bully

We are lagging behind the armaments program and by 2020 most likely nothing that we will not have planned
But NATO (in the form of the USA) has never come so close to our borders, they have the opportunity to decide strategic plans with tactical weapons.

there is a suspicion that things in our missile defense system are so bad that at the current time we have nothing to offer (I mean the finished product in metal). Therefore, the amers offer us, like you try to build your own, but we will improve our existing missile defense system by 2015, and then we'll see whose eggs (i.e., the missile defense system will be cooler and more efficient). I think that the shaggy remnants of the former USSR missile defense system are simply not of interest to them.
The thing will move from a dead point only when we all see REALIZED, more or less meaningful projects in the field of space exploration in the near and far space and those that were brought out EXACTLY on national platforms.
And SO ALL THIS IS A LITTLE BABY and CHALKING.
And then it will be so - an imitation of a flight to MARS (grandiose, especially considering that the equipment used to hell knows what year, agree that the reports looked just wretched) ... disgusting to continue ... good luck.

Viktor_ui is right. I agree with him completely. Unfortunately, science is not developing today, and allocations from the state treasury for new developments are simply scanty! And the RF Ministry of Defense does not allocate money for research and development of the military-industrial complex. Take a look at China. What colossal funds are spent on science ?! Our Skolkovo was given to the oligarchs to be torn to pieces and nothing substantial will be invented there. Just another cut of colossal cash!

We forget the expression "This country cannot be defeated by military force, it can only be defeated from within." We ourselves create conflicts against the background of anarchy, destroy everything, both good and bad, and then spend money and energy and, most importantly, TIME to RESTORE the destroyed. The West has never forgotten its goal of Divide and Conquer, and this has been in place since the days of the Roman Empire. This principle in relation to Russia is valid regardless of the existing system.
