According to the information agency "Vesti", referring to the Kremlin’s website, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding journalists of Russia Today and LifeNews TV channels Fyodor Zavaleykov, Oleg Sidyakin and Marat Saychenko with Orders of courage "for courage and bravery shown in the performance of professional duty."
It is worth recalling that 9 in May was a freelance correspondent for Russia Today TV channel Fyodor Zavaleykov received a heavy gunshot wound to the abdominal cavity during a shootout in Mariupol. Negotiations on the delivery of the wounded to Moscow went on for three days, but the Ukrainian side refused to evacuate from the nearest airport, and the correspondent had to be taken to Donetsk by ambulance.
And 18 May Ukrainian military detained journalists LifeNews Oleg Sidyakin and Marat Saychenko in the area of Kramatorsk. Later, they were charged with promoting terrorism. On the night of 26 in May, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, who participated in the negotiations for their release, said that the journalists had been released. They were taken by plane first to Grozny and then to Moscow.
