The President of the United States will publish a plan of financial support for "democratic change" in the East
First of all, as expected, generous promises will be promised to Tunisia and Egypt, who were the first to free themselves from “dictatorial oppression,” so to speak. According to Agence France-Presse, the plan includes, in particular, debt cancellation, the organization of investment funds, the allocation of loans for infrastructure development and the creation of new jobs. The agency notes that, in the opinion of American officials, such support will become "an incentive for the establishment of a democratic system in other states of the Arab world." That is, in fact, it is a question of purposeful financing of actions aimed at undermining stability in those countries whose authorities are not satisfied with the US administration.
Recall that mass demonstrations demanding a change in the country's leadership are now taking place in Yemen, Bahrain, and Syria. In Libya, such speeches turned into a full-fledged civil war, in which the United States and the West actively got involved on the side of one of the groups. Now, according to Obama, regime subversors should get down to business more zealously: if earlier they were fighting, so to speak, for the idea, now they are for American funding.
Note that a similar fate awaits not all. Those rulers who are satisfied with the position of Americans, can, as they say, sleep peacefully. They even help with the protection of "unauthorized activity." As it became known, the authorities of the United Arab Emirates signed a contract with the private security company Xe Services, previously known as Blackwater. The treaty provides for the training of a battalion of 800 foreign mercenaries to combat terrorism, ensure the country's internal security and quell uprisings. Reportedly, the Obama administration is aware of the project and considers it useful for protecting the Emirates from the military threat from Iran.
“Blackwater”, we recall, is a very well-known office, which was even forced to be renamed due to its numerous “feats”. "Blackwater" participated in the second war in Iraq, helping to prepare the Iraqi police and military, but became known in connection with the charges of killing civilians, smuggling weapons and other unpleasant incidents. So, the firm is associated with the killing of peaceful Iraqis in September 2007. Employees who guarded the US Department of State's diplomatic convoy staged a shootout in the central square of Baghdad, the victims of which were 17 people. In general, it is quite suitable for the "defense of democracy" office.
To those who have not yet understood the unambiguous hints from Washington that it would be time to give way to more rulers who are acceptable to the Americans, more and more “signals” are being sent. As Reuters reported on Wednesday, the US authorities decided to impose sanctions against Syrian President Bashar Assad and six other high-ranking Syrian officials. All of their assets in the US or otherwise under their jurisdiction will be frozen. In addition to Assad, the sanctions included Syrian Vice-President Farouk al-Sharaa, Prime Minister Adel Safar, Interior Minister Mohammad Ibrahim Al-Shaar, Defense Minister Ali Habib, as well as the head of military intelligence Abdul Fatah Qudsia and director of the political security department Mohammed Dib Zaytun
Earlier, we recall the introduction of sanctions against Syria announced the European Union. In particular, the EU has banned the entry of 13 into its territory by Syrian officials, and has frozen its European assets. Note that the president of Syria was not in the European black list. Apparently, at that time, the West believed that Assad would still understand that they would not just lag behind him, and would make concessions, but this did not happen. Then the "heavy artillery" went into action.
Recall that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at a press conference yesterday said he would not support a possible resolution of the UN Security Council on Syria. Pointing to the sad experience of Libya (the resolution on which Russia de facto supported, and which, as Medvedev stated, were “trampled”), he said: “It’s wrong to act this way. It is necessary to allow the states themselves to choose their own path of development and to give the Syrian leadership the opportunity to resolve the internal problems that exist there. ”
