New hopes of May. Homs released, and the election campaign started
While the peoples of the USSR celebrated Victory Day over fascism, the Syrian people and the army won a very significant victory over terrorism. Under the terms of the local pacification agreement, terrorist groups left the quarters of the Old City of Homs. And, although the victory was achieved through diplomacy, it is clear that without the efforts of the Syrian army, Homs would not have been released.
Western propaganda supporting terrorists and calling them "rebels" paid special attention to Homs: the third largest city of the SAR was called not only the "capital of the Syrian revolution". The first stage of the Syrian confrontation was largely connected precisely with Homs and its surroundings: one of the largest centers of insurrection inspired from outside arose there.
At the initial stage of the crisis, there were still a few foreign mercenaries in the country: the core of the first illegal armed groups were representatives of crime, radical Islamists in Syria itself, and a certain number of young people deceived by the ideas of false freedom. Of these militants and consisted of the gangs of those who wielded in Homs. In particular, among them were a lot of smugglers, who previously profited from the illegal shipment of various goods across the Syrian-Lebanese border in the areas of Tel Kalyah and Al-Xayr. After the start of the war, they found another source of profit: they began to join terrorist groups and also speculate weapons.
In the 2012 year, when the Syrian army eliminated the main nest of "internal terrorists" - the Bab Amr quarter in Homs, the gangs settled in the areas of the Old City - the historic center. In recent months, due to the successful counter-terrorist operations of military personnel, terrorists have been in a deaf blockade. With the liberation of Al-Kseira and the surrounding areas, Lebanese sources of supply for the bandits were cut.
It was about the fate of these militants that the West has been bothering all this time. Constantly shedding crocodile tears about “besieged Homs” and “dire humanitarian situations”, European and American politicians did not shed a single tear on the victims of the terrible terrorist attacks and mortar attacks, which at that time were subjected to other quarters of Homs - those in which a normal life was going on (except for the fact that at one moment the hellish machine could have worked and carry off the lives of dozens of people).
In addition, the West did not care about the suffering of the residents of the villages of Nubble and Zahra in the province of Aleppo. These villages have been under the blockade of terrorists for a year and a half.
Now, when the complete failure and deceit of pseudo-revolution has become clear to the majority of Syrians, most of those who once flew into the false light of "democracy" lay down their arms. However, not everyone is ready for such a step yet, besides, among them there are those who have committed serious crimes.
According to the agreements, those militants who were blocked in the historic center of Homs and did not want to lay down weapons were given the opportunity to leave the besieged areas and, under the control of the UNO, to go to the settlements of Rastan and Telbis, which for the time being are under the authority of terrorists. They were allowed to take one small arms each with them, so that they could defend themselves against the radical mercenaries from Al-Qaida. The militants have left heavier weapons. About 50 of them surrendered to the authorities. As for the foreigners who were in the gangs - according to unofficial information, they are arrested and will be transferred to the governments of their countries.
Thus, Syrian legal authority gained control of the Old City of Homs. The militants, for their part, freed dozens of people abducted by them - both military personnel and civilians. In addition, they pledged to provide guarantees of humanitarian convoys to the villages of Nubble and Zahra in the province of Aleppo.
Syria gained from these agreements not only that Homs was liberated - one of the main information and political reasons for international pressure on Damascus disappeared, which reached the point of threatening to adopt a UN Security Council resolution based on Article 7 of the UN Charter, which provides for military intervention. And, although the resolution in the UN Security Council would not have been able to be adopted anyway, the Western countries used the situation in Homs for their dirty propaganda purposes.
Residents of areas under so long under the rule of terrorists are now returning to their homes. Of course, this applies to those whose houses managed to somehow survive. The main thing is that the walls are preserved, people say so, the rest can be repaired. Unfortunately, many houses are no longer subject to restoration - some of them were blown up by terrorists, some were injured during armed clashes.
Destroyed and burned many shops, cafes, offices. On the deserted streets of the neighborhoods, burned and twisted cars are visible.
Governor of Homs province Talal Al-Barazi said that people who have lost their homes and property will be given full assistance. The state in the shortest possible time will restore the supply of electricity and the provision of other vital services.
Residents of the city still face severe trials - much remains to be restored. But the beginning of this.
The victorious soldiers, holding Syrian flags in their hands, joyfully chanted slogans. Climbing on what was left of the tower with the clock, they ate the fruits of a well-deserved victory, achieved with their participation. After all, if it were not for their exploits, it would have been impossible to conduct any negotiations either with the militants or with the owners of the militants.
The Syrian people are preparing for another landmark event - the presidential election. The Constitutional Court of Syria considered the appeals of all candidates who did not receive a sufficient number of votes of deputies of the National Council. A final list of candidates for the presidency was formed. 11 May officially announced the start of the election campaign.
Damascus and other cities of Syria are full of new bright national flags hung on the eve of presidential elections. May passes under the sign of hopes for a peaceful sky over your head and a new, happy life in which there will be no place for terrorism and violence.
