Ukroboronprom ready to arm the Ukrainian Armed Forces with new sniper rifles

Ukraine has developed the latest sniper rifles. It is reported by the press service of "Ukroboronprom".

The rifles developed by Mayak Plant OJSC are already prepared for serial production and offered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Yuri Tereshchenko, general director of Ukroboronprom, expressed her interest in acquiring new rifles in the Defense Ministry: “Our products are twice cheaper than the best foreign analogues and fully comply with international standards. Ukroboronprom is ready to provide the Ukrainian army with modern infantry weapons".

The director of the Mayak plant, Alexander Peregudov, stated that the VPR-308 (7,62 × 51mm) and VPR-338 (8,6 × 70 mm) sniper rifles are the most successful developments of the enterprise. VPR-338 will be designed to hit small-sized targets at a distance of 1300 meters and material objects. VPR-308 is significantly lighter in weight - around 7 kilogram.

"The survivability of our rifles is quite high. For a VPR-338, the accuracy ratio is up to 2 thousands of shots with a total survivability of the 10 thousand shots. For VPR-308 there is 6 thousands with the overall survivability of 10 thousands shots," Peregudov said.

"At present, the organization of domestic production of small-sized barrels for small arms based on modern technologies has been completed. This will expand the range of domestic production, increase the segment of manufactured products and expand the arms supply markets," Peregudov emphasized.
