Russian President Vladimir Putin hopes that the initiatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry to level out the situation around Ukraine will have a positive result. This was stated by the head of state at a meeting with the leadership of the Russian government.
“I hope that the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to level the situation, to change it for the better, will have consequences, and the result will be positive. In any case, I hope that the acting ones will not do anything there that could not be fixed, ”Putin said at a meeting with the leadership of the Russian government, ITAR-TASS reports.
Opening the meeting, the president offered to discuss what Russia could do to strengthen “economic ties with one of our key partners, Ukraine,” noting that complex internal political processes are underway in this country.
The President gave instructions to the Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov to fulfill all contracts with Ukraine in a disciplined manner, but be prepared to replace Ukrainian goods. In turn, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade noted that Ukraine fulfills all obligations to Russian enterprises as part of the cooperative operation.
“Our country has no serious dependence on the supply of goods from Ukraine. If restrictive measures are taken, our enterprises are able to replace these products, ”said Denis Manturov.
“I ask you to fulfill all contractual obligations in a disciplined manner,” said the head of state. - But we need to be ready in advance for any development of the situation. We need to think in advance where, at what enterprises, at what time and with what money we will be able to start our own production. ”
In addition, the Russian president drew attention to the fact that Russia provided financial support to Ukraine. At the end of last year, a loan was granted in the amount of $ 3 billion. “We agreed that our partners in Ukraine will fully repay the debt to Gazprom for gas supplied last year and will pay regularly and in full for current payments. To do this, we went for a quarterly discount, ”said the president.
Vladimir Putin noted that Gazprom will supply gas only in the volumes paid for by the Ukrainian side. “As much as they pay, they will receive as much,” the president added.
