Rogozin appreciated the creative approach of NATO to the Libyan resolution

Exactly two months ago, on February 15, 2011, news tapes were first streaked with "lightning" from Libya. By that time, revolutionary unrest in Egypt had subsided, and, as is customary to say in such cases, "nothing portended."

Two months later, this “nothing foreshadowed” became the topic for a joint article by the leaders of the three countries - the United States, France and the United Kingdom - which was published in the world's leading publications. And the object of their persecution, Muammar Gaddafi, already has every chance of becoming “Man of the Year - 2011” at least in the number of mentions in the press, which would be envied by the tempted Hollywood star.

And in an interview with Russia's Permanent Representative to NATO, Dmitry Rogozin, which on Friday, 15 of April, was published in Izvestia, the person of Gaddafi and the situation in Libya in general and around it was focused on. The interview is, recalling to the word, given by Rogozin on the eve of the informal meeting of the Russia-NATO Council, which is scheduled to be released in Berlin on the day of this interview.

Evaluating, according to the profile of its activities, the participation of the North Atlantic Alliance in an operation to overthrow the Gaddafi regime (it is also an “operation to ensure a no-fly zone”, it is also a “humanitarian operation to protect civilians from the Gaddafi regime”, etc.). KM RU), Dmitry Rogozin, not without sarcasm, noted the desire of Western politicians to creatively rethink very specific documents. “We, for example, have not read between the lines for a long time, as in Soviet times, but we read exactly what is written. But it seems that some Western countries just adopt the Soviet style and find in these documents what is not there at all. And such a “creative interpretation” is completely unacceptable, ”Rogozin said.

He is not the first to talk about it. Just the day before, President Dmitry Medvedev also expressed his complaints about the UN and NATO, which were too creative in their approach to the implementation of resolution No. 1973 on Libya, adopted by the UN Security Council. “After all, we agreed to something, or we voted, or at least abstained: to close the airspace and thereby prevent the basis for the intensification of the conflict, to dissolve the opposing parties in different directions. received, in fact, a military operation, which is not yet on the ground, but is in the air, in which a number of countries participate, and at some point NATO joined as a military bloc, ”Dmitry Medvedev told reporters at the conclusion of the BRICS summit at itae.

Meanwhile, as Dmitry Rogozin noted in his communication with Izvestia journalist, it is the “creative approach” to the dry language of diplomacy that leads to regular air strikes against civilian infrastructure in Libya. “As a result, Libya was on the verge of a humanitarian catastrophe, and this is contrary to all the resolutions that were adopted precisely in order to minimize the suffering of people. And they are only growing due to the incessant hostilities in which the Western coalition is participating. ”

At the same time, Dmitry Rogozin noted that in the event that a humanitarian catastrophe develops on the territory of Libya on Libyan territory, it is really necessary to deliver humanitarian goods and protect them somehow. “If such a mission becomes a pretext for a land invasion, it is fraught with a serious split within NATO. Serious passions are already boiling there, ”Russia's permanent representative to NATO warned.

Developing the theme of a possible "split" within NATO, Dmitry Rogozin shared the following observation: "Major European states are opposed to the Alliance plunging into a foreign civil war." Here, in fairness, it will be possible to recall the bewilderment of the US congressmen, who demanded an explanation from Barack Obama about the reason for the US participation in a rather costly operation. What had not quite convincingly to talk about the connection of the operation in Libya with the interests of the American people.

The mood swirling around Libya allowed Dmitry Rogozin to assume that NATO’s involvement in the civil war between the Libyan rebels and the forces of Muammar Gaddafi would certainly be hampered by the global elites themselves. “I think this idea will not find full support. And if someone is involved in such an adventure, it is not NATO as such, but individual members of the Alliance, ”suggested Dmitry Rogozin.

Fully talk of Russia's permanent representative to NATO, Dmitry Rogozin, can be found in the Izvestia issue on Friday, April 15.

datur, turnip, what are you doing? It is necessary, on the contrary, at all possible levels to remind "our overseas friends" of the logs in their eyes. I do not understand why the representative of Russia to the UN is silent about the fact that "unarmed rebels" are using multiple launch rocket systems. Photos and videos about this are in almost every news. Are these some new super accurate missiles that only hit Gaddaffe's soldiers? As a result of such attacks, civilians are killed, for whose protection the UN adopted resolutions 1970 and 1973, and if it is NECESSARY to bomb the Kadaffi tanks allegedly shooting at "unarmed rebels", then let them bomb and launch multiple rocket launchers of the rebels, or somehow selectively the resolution is executed.
