The medal is awarded for courage and bravery, which were shown in a combat situation, when performing special tasks to ensure state security, while protecting the constitutional rights of citizens in conditions that are risky to life.

It is worth noting that the “For Courage” medal has become one of the few awards of the former USSR that has been preserved in the award system of the Russian Federation and has reached us almost in its original form, having undergone minimal changes. The award option currently in use was established in March 1994. The Russian version differs from the Soviet medal “For Courage” in the absence of the inscription “USSR”, which was located under the multi-tower a tank at the bottom of the coin. In addition, the diameter of the medal “For Courage” in the Russian Federation was reduced by 3 mm to 34 mm. Also, in 1994, a copper-nickel alloy was chosen as the material for the manufacture of the medal, but already on June 1, 1995, it was ordered to release the medal from silver, as it was throughout stories the existence of this award.

The medal "For Courage" can be awarded to citizens of Russia, both military and civilian. The basis for the award is personal courage and courage, which was manifested in the performance of military or his civic duty, namely: 1) in battles defending the Russian Federation and its state interests; 2) when performing special missions to ensure the state security of the Russian Federation; 3) in the protection of the state border of the Russian Federation; 4) in the performance of military, official or civil duty, the protection of the constitutional rights of citizens in conditions that were associated with a risk to life. At the same time, like many other Russian awards, the medal "For Courage" can be awarded posthumously.

    Yes, most respected medal.
It's good that the "awards" were smart enough to leave her.
It is a pity that the diameter was reduced ... that is, it visually differed from standard medals.
Not so long ago, they discussed about the medals of the USSR.

And in the extreme photo - the most common modern award "pair" ...
    Eheh.
    Thanks for this photo, Sergey.

Why throw it all away? No need to throw out the same Order of Courage, or For Merits to the Fatherland - very decent awards. But here I would definitely return the Red Star, the Order of the Red Banner - well, change it stylistically (they left the Order of Friendship, though they were castrated). Also, after all, everything was foolish - rather, faster, to give up all Soviet things, we’ll invent everything of our own. But the hell there, everything is not so simple, over the years everything comes, the award system of the Russian Empire took how many years, and there was no limit to perfection. Here is where the order should be borrowed and adapted from.

Igor, everyone understands perfectly well that the award system of the Russian Federation now has a little ... ahem ... a faded image and it needs to be "shamanized".
      But:
“To throw away the Tsar’s, to make only the Soviet ...”
      - Soviet to throw, make only Russian ...
      You offer:
      - Return everything Soviet, Russian throw ...
      Not tired?

Traditions and Continuity are the pillars and foundations of the Army.

We must not forget the Battle Awards of the Russian Empire, nor the USSR regalia fanned with glory, and we should not throw ourselves at the well-deserved orders of our time.
      Everything should be in moderation.

      Something like that.

      rather the opposite.
it is necessary to take the award system of the Russian Empire as the basis.
      Of course, with new realities.
but some of the current orders simply need to be abolished. some just do not award maybe there is a very good replacement for them.
