Medvedev awarded the Order of Kutuzov regiment of special forces of the Airborne ForcesPresident of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev awarded the Order of Kutuzov the 45 th separate Guards Order of Alexander Nevsky Special Forces Airborne Regiment.

The commander-in-chief, who arrived at the regiment’s location in Kubinka, near Moscow, attached the award and the ribbon to the regiment’s banner. According to the decree, the award was awarded for the successful performance of combat missions and the courage and heroism shown by the personnel.

"I would like to say that in our modern stories, modern history is (award) occurs for the first time. Despite the fact that traditionally orders are awarded for personal merit - and so will, of course, in the future - but in exceptional cases, rewarding military units is justified. In this case, these are the circumstances, "- said Medvedev personnel of the regiment.

The Order of Kutuzov is one of the commanding awards that are awarded to military units, units, institutions, organizations and labor collectives. It was established on 29 on July 1942 of the year and was two-step, and in February 1943 of the year became threefold.

A separate special forces regiment of the Airborne Forces was formed in July of the 1994 of the year on the basis of the 901-th separate assault landing battalion and the 218-th separate special-purpose battalion. The personnel of the regiment repeatedly participated in anti-terrorist operations in the North Caucasus, participated in the operation to force Georgia to peace, ensured the safety of Russian citizens, including members of military families, during the exacerbation of the internal political situation in Kyrgyzstan in April 2010.

"Your unit is the youngest member of the Airborne Forces, but you faithfully follow the long tradition of the paratroopers. Your regiment conducted the most complicated operations in the North Caucasus, defended the people of South Ossetia from Georgian aggression. In the most dangerous situations, you and your comrades always showed valor and courage, always performed the tasks, "- said Medvedev.

For courage and heroism shown in the performance of special tasks, more than 2 thousands of soldiers of the regiment were awarded state awards, 10 soldiers were awarded the title Hero of Russia, five of them - posthumously.

During the years of the Great Patriotic War, the Order of Kutuzov was awarded 1 one thousand 594 military units. As a rule, the Order of Kutuzov was awarded to the military unit, which, despite the stubborn resistance of the superior forces of the opponent, won and retained its combat capability.

From 1991 to 2010, this order belonged to the category of so-called "sleeping orders", since its statute and Soviet symbols were combined. In September 2010 of the year, a presidential decree was issued, according to which the Order acquired a new statute and appearance, aligned with the general heraldry of Russian awards.

After the order was awarded, the paratroopers marched solemnly along the parade ground to the sounds of military songs, in particular, “We need one victory” from the film “Belarus Station”. The president thanked the guardsmen for their service.
