Gaddafi: war is coming between Muslims and Christians

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi called on the heads of state of the Western coalition to resign immediately to stop "insane bloodshed, the triumph of the laws of force over the force of laws and the destruction of the common interests of the Mediterranean region," the head of the Jamahiriya said in a statement released Thursday by Libyan State Agency DZHANA.

"These madmen want to drop all of us in the Middle Ages, starting a dangerous war, over which they will soon lose control," Gaddafi said. At the same time, he suggested that the peoples of Western countries "choose for themselves new leaders who respect the relations between states and understand the meaning of international relations and international law."

Otherwise, according to Gaddafi, "the world will soon witness a terrible war between Muslims and Christians" in the region.

The internal crisis in Libya began on February 17 and gradually acquired the features of a civil war between supporters and opponents of the Muammar Gaddafi regime. The country was divided into a rebel-dominated East and a loyal West. The count of victims of this conflict goes to thousands, more than 330 thousands of refugees left the country.

The UN Security Council 17 March adopted a resolution providing for the introduction of a no-fly zone over Libya and giving the opportunity to conduct a foreign military operation against the forces of Gaddafi. In the beginning of the March 19 operation, which received the name "Odyssey Dawn", a number of countries participate, in particular, the United Kingdom, France, the USA, Canada, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Denmark. On Sunday, the NATO Council decided to take over the command of a coalition military operation in Libya.
