The regime of Muammar Gaddafi held secret negotiations with the authorities of Great Britain

According to a source in the British government, Mohammed Ismail, one of the Libyan leader’s closest assistants to the son of Seif al-Islam Gaddafi, visited London, where he held talks, the date and essence of which are not specified.
According to the source of the newspaper, Ismail’s visit is part of the efforts being made to settle relations between Libya and the Western community. According to the latest reports, Seif Al-Islam himself is in one of the western countries where he is holding talks on finding ways to resolve the situation around Libya, ITAR-TASS reports.
The British Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not confirm or deny the information that appears. “The ministry is not going to comment on any information about its contacts with Libyan officials,” they said there. “When meeting with representatives of Libya, we emphasize every time that Muammar Gaddafi must leave.”
Reports of secret negotiations between Libya and the United Kingdom appeared against the backdrop of the recent resignation of Libya’s Foreign Minister Musa Kusa, who is currently in London.
According to the UK Foreign Ministry, he "came of his own will and declared that he resigns from his post." As the head of British diplomacy, William Hague, said, Kusa "is in a safe place, and we are discussing with him every opportunity to develop a plan for further action."
