The number of Ukrainian Navy is more than 14 500 people.
The Navy of Ukraine today is not in the most attractive form. However, in recent years, the situation does not look as catastrophic as, say, 5 or 10 years ago.
What, then, in such a situation allows us to talk about positive trends? The same objective facts. The number of all kinds of exercises, mostly international, in which the Navy has taken part in recent years, is a record one and surpasses the figures for all other combat arms. Only from 1994 to 2013, the Ukrainian Navy was involved in more than 2000 international military cooperation events.
Every year the number of hours of flight of the crews of naval aviation and the build-up of Ukrainian warships is steadily increasing. Hundreds of Ukrainian naval specialists are trained and undergo training abroad.
The warships and boats that are part of the Naval Forces of Ukraine practically all were obtained when the Black Sea Fleet divided. Most of them are over 25 years old. The most "running" are: the frigate "Getman Sagaidachny", the corvettes "Lutsk" and "Ternopil", as well as the large landing ship "Konstantin Olshansky.
The strike force of the Ukrainian Navy currently has, in its composition, the Pridneprovye missile corvette and the Priluki missile boat.
Following the results of 2013, a large number of ships of the Ukrainian Navy were repaired. More than ten were commissioned.
In order to update the ship crews, a program for creating ships of the "corvette" class was launched, at the Black Sea Shipbuilding Plant (CSY) before 2021, it is planned to build an 4 ship of the "corvette" class.
In 2011, the solemn ceremony of laying the main ship was carried out. According to the results of the Program, 4 of the 58250 project ship will be built, 5 ammunition kits will be purchased, which include small and medium caliber guided artillery, anti-submarine and anti-ship torpedoes, missiles for the attack and anti-aircraft missiles. Created ship-based system (built two berths).
The first ship of the class "Corvette" plan to be commissioned before the 2017 year

Corsets 58250 project - a promising type of corvettes of the naval forces of Ukraine (Naval Forces of Ukraine), developed by the Experimental Design Center for Shipbuilding in the city of Nikolaev.
The displacement of the ship is more than 2,5 thousand tons, the length is about 110 m, the crew is about 110 people. The Corvette will be equipped with anti-ship missiles, guided anti-aircraft missiles, medium and small caliber artillery, anti-submarine weapons, a powerful complex of radio-electronic means, a deck-based helicopter with a hangar. Grade about 60% will be Ukrainian.
In accordance with the State target program “Arrangement and Reconstruction of the State Border” and the Concept of Development of the State Fire Service of Ukraine, to upgrade the naval boat structure of the Marine Guard to 2020, it is planned to build 6 ships “Coral”, 8 boats “Orlan”, 25 other boats of modern projects. In addition, from 2015 for the needs of the State Border Service of Ukraine it is planned to begin construction of a multifunctional ship with a displacement of about 1000 tons, on board of which the helicopter is based.
To replace the boats of the 1400 “Grif” project, small border boats of the 58130 “Orlan” project arrived in 2012, the first boat was transferred to the Sevastopol Marine Guard detachment.
Also in 2012, the first Coral sea guard ship was laid at the Feodosia Production Association “More”

It is planned that the Coral will weigh up to 310 tons and reach speeds up to 30 nodes (more than 55 km / h). It will be equipped with an automated control system and equipped with modern technical equipment. The number of crew "Coral" - to 20 people. This is two times less than on today's ships of the border guards of Ukraine, say the department. The construction of such a vessel will cost approximately 300 million hryvnia
The first two small armored artillery boats of the 2012 project ("Gyurza-M"), intended for the Ukrainian Navy, were also laid out in 58155 at the Zavod Leninskaya Kuznitsa Plant in Kiev. Boats are planned for use in solving problems in the Danube River basin and in the coastal zone of the Black and Azov Seas. Before 2017, it is planned to build nine boats of the Gyurza-M type for the Ukrainian Navy.

The 58155 project armored vehicle (“Gyurza-M”) was developed by the Ukrainian enterprise “State Research and Design Center for Shipbuilding” (Nikolaev) and is a further development of the 58150 (“Gyurza”) design boats, two units of which were built by “Leninskaya forge” in 2004 for Uzbekistan Border Guard Service with US funding (at 5,6 million). The boat of the 58155 project ("Gyurza-M") is larger than its prototype, and has a total displacement of 50,7 tons, a length of 23 meter, a width of 4,8 meter and a draft of 1 meter. The maximum speed "Gurzy-M" to 25 knots, cruising range of economic course 700 miles, autonomy for five days. The crew is only five people. The boat’s armament is made up of two remotely controlled naval combat modules BM-5.01 Katran-M produced by the state-owned enterprise Mykolayiv Mechanical Repair Plant, which is a variant of the BM-3 Combat module for armored vehicles. Each Katran-M module includes an 30-mm automatic gun ZTM1, 30-mm automatic grenade launcher and 7,62-mm CT machine gun, as well as two Barrier ATGMs with a laser guidance system. The boat is equipped with an optical-electronic fire control system and also has a set of portable air defense missile systems.
In 2013, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine terminated the contract with the Leninskaya Kuznitsa plant, the press service of the Ministry of Defense stated that the state commission did not satisfy the quality of the enterprise’s work. In addition, there were problems with the technical documentation on weapons.
The order for boats of the project 58155 will be placed at another enterprise
The fate of the unique anti-submarine ships of the Sokol project remains unclear
corvettes "Lviv" and "Lugansk".
The first ship is almost ready however, its production is now suspended due to lack of funding.
The Sokol project ship is the largest hydrofoil ship in the world. The length of the ship is 50 meters, and the width of 10 meters. The vessel due to the three gas turbines with a capacity of 10 thousands of horsepower and two 20 thousands - is able to reach speeds of more than 60 nodes.

The ship has the largest titanium alloy wing system on which the ship can sail at wave heights above 4 meters. Due to the high speed of the vessel in the shortest possible time it reaches the positions from which the submarine is hit with a high probability.
They are armed: AK-176 (76,2 mm) automatic artillery system, AK-630М automatic six-gun artillery system, two four-pipe torpedo installations with the 400 mm caliber, an automated artillery fire detection and control system, as well as two portable anti-aircraft weapons .

The ships have a degree of readiness of 95-98% and 30% respectively.
The majority of the ship's personnel are frigate, corvette (MPK), mine-sweeping and landing ships, which are capable of solving the tasks of controlling the economic zone, conducting defensive mine statements, including off the coast of the Crimea, and amphibious landing operations of a tactical scale.
In modern conditions, the development of the Ukrainian Navy focuses on the creation of powerful coastal troops, including in the Crimea, which does not require such significant financial costs as for the construction or purchase of modern warships.

corvettes "Lviv" and "Lugansk".
