Oakley Standard Issue Unveils New Prizm Ballistic Lenses

Oakley Standard Issue, a military-manufacturing division of Oakley, during the SHOT Show 2014, presented a new model of protective ballistic lenses that are manufactured using Prizm Contrast technology. Oakley SI Prizm lenses increase color contrast by blocking certain waves of the visible color spectrum. Thereby making the target more distinguishable and reduces the total eye strain on the shooter.

In all other respects, Oakley SI Prizm lenses are reproducible by the characteristics of the usual plutonite company ballistic lenses, which fully meet the standards of ANSI Z87.1 and MIL-PRF-31013, and provide reliable protection against ultraviolet radiation. In addition, the lenses are treated with a special anti-reflective coating, a coating against the occurrence of scratches and abrasions, as well as an anti-fog coating on the inside.

The launch of sales of new lenses is scheduled for February 2014 of the year, as well as full sets, as well as individual Oakley SI Prizm lenses in TR22 and TR45 colors in the format of SI Radar Range, SI Flak Jacket XLJ and SI Ballistic M Frame 3.0 glasses will appear on the official dealers' counters. . The cost of new products has not yet been disclosed.

If the glasses are of this shape, then this is complete crap. They will fly off and break at the first blast wave or the fall of a person to the ground. If the bullet hits the glasses (without touching the person), it injures the eyes. Increased risk factor.

Nevertheless, in sunny weather, especially when the sun in the face, with glasses of at least this shape, at least another, is better than without them.

The question is how to apply. For sports shooting or for a sniper, they can be useful. Infantry in this form, of course, do not need lenses, but if you use a special frame, mask or gas mask into which you can insert them (lenses), then why not.
As for the risk of injury, such lenses can be made of plastic, which, when hit by a bullet, does not scatter into fragments.
The main question is the actual effectiveness of this equipment. Who is in the know - please enlighten

In principle, everything has already been said. Add only about the mysterious
"increase the contrast of colors by blocking certain waves in the visible color spectrum."

Even as a child, who was fond of B / W photo knows what the "yellow filter" is for. I myself was surprised when I bought tactical glasses with yellow lenses ... Here the principle is the same, although the color is different - increasing the contrast and cutting off UF.

Most likely, this form of glasses is not for deliveries to the sun, but for retail sales to amateurs.

FIG knows, all the goggles are of exactly this form, they have such ones, and the West has been using them for a long time. They won’t protect from a bullet, but from random splinters, that’s it, and in the forest there are less chances to leave an eye on a branch

You buy yourself at least one glasses of this company, and then you’ll carry this crazy nonsense ... I have 4 pairs — I bought the first 6 years ago — no complaints! Oakley is rightfully the world leader! handsome men!

These glasses serve to protect the eyes from mechanical injuries with fragments of targets or a sleeve. They are made of high-strength polycarbonate and meet military standards. This means that a steel ball with a diameter of 6 mm and flying at a speed of 45 m / s (160 km / h) will be stopped by these glasses, without any injuries for its owner. In general, ballistic glasses are used in the armies of different countries and are required to be worn at training grounds or in battlefields, and in civilian life - when firing shotguns (where they shoot on skeet), dashes or playing airsoft.

Normal glasses, normal lenses. There is a lace there, so that it doesn’t fly off your head. And for the infantry will do. And then a random pebble in the eye and all ...

Toy, for trap shooting, no more. The company simply expands its range. It is difficult to imagine a fighter changing lenses during a battle.))))

I have such. aerodynamics-sediment, wind brings dust directly into the eyes. quite strong, although there is a spare frame in the kit, apparently in case you really broke. I do not see any sense or way to drag her with me. a frame for lenses for myopic people is also present, fasteners are slop.
The only thing you can use is a lens. They really make the picture sharper and clearer. If they are tied to the head with adhesive tape, then it will probably be nice. And they will protect from dust and will not fall off at a crucial moment.
and the rest is ordinary pink glasses hi

These sticks, which are on the "lenses" instead of temples, will hold them on the head only if they were made to measure. Well, or lucky, the shape of the head exactly matched. And so - do not shake your head, do not sharply bend over and do not straighten up. Stand, table, bar ... Not good in the field, I'm not talking about the fight.

The fighter should not have any points. The only option is a helmet with a visor.

The design is clearly not for field conditions and the company did not declare this. Main purpose
increase the contrast of colors, blocking certain waves of the visible color spectrum. This makes the target more visible and reduces the overall strain on the eyes of the shooter.
Only the novelty lies in the lens material, and the principle of spectrum cutoff has been used for a long time. In particular, twenty years ago there was information that such glasses were first used in the security service of the President of France.

The argument is about nothing. The bespectacled man in the army is a victim of N1. Any glasses in melee interfere like women's heels. But do we get to melee? And to protect the eyes, while having a clearer picture, is right.
