A Russian soldier, Mikhail Devyatayev, in February 1945, together with other prisoners on the Henkel plane, escaped from German captivity. He saved nine prisoners of war from certain death. After two German concentration camps, another was waiting for them. Only after 13 years they believed Devyatyaev and handed the Hero Star.
