Flight change in the 299 Tactical Aviation Brigade (Ukraine)

Thanks to the kind invitation of the press service of the air command, I managed to visit the 299th Tactical Brigade aviation at the airport Kulbakino in Nikolaev.

Our landing force consisted of two people - photojournalist David Cherkasov and your humble servant. To be honest, I have long wanted to get into this famous garrison and shoot the flight work of Ukrainian aviators. Famous because it is one of the most combat-ready parts of aviation in our fatherland. And now the press service provided such an opportunity.

Weather, frankly, let down. Strong wind, low clouds, the lower edge of the clouds 200 meters, the temperature around 0 degrees did not bode well for the sense of photo-video filming, but didn’t bother the famous division - the flights took place in full ...

Arriving at the checkpoint, we immediately got into a warm atmosphere and the attentive attitude of the brigade command, which we appreciated. We were accompanied everywhere by the political officer of the brigade, for which many thanks to him, his answers to questions and full-fledged objective information helped us a lot to understand the mechanisms of the unit. Understanding that nothing can replace our personal perception of combat work, we immediately asked to take pictures near the runway and received a “GOOD” from the chief of staff.

The Su-25М1, Su-25, Su-25UB and L-39 aircraft took part in the summer shift. Particularly impressed was the landing of the Rooks with a braking parachute, when a powerful attack aircraft rushes 50 meters away from you and when the parachute opens, it (the parachute) flutters in the wind, making a sound very similar to the fluttering of sails on the mast of a large sailboat. Drying has worked several exercises, including a simulated landing with a touch strip and go-around, the so-called “touch and go”. The unforgettable smell of kerosene and the whistle of the engines were long remembered.

An amazing thing - after a couple of hours of standing in the wind it was lunch time - just a “window” formed in the flight and the political officer offered to have dinner at the flight canteen. In the dining room warm and clean, welcoming atmosphere favored the adoption of food. On our stomachs we felt what a summer ration is ... A pair of salads, fish, meat, mashed potatoes, soups - to choose from, and of course compote with fresh pastries. After such a dinner, I didn’t want to go anywhere, but I had to shoot the planes in the parking lot and the work of the technical services of the unit.

It is nice that the Afghan sides are still in service, and they are in excellent combat condition. Aircraft know their stuff.

It was getting dark ... By this time we were a little tired, but I wanted to look at the Albatross night landings in the spotlight. Today we were allowed everything ... True, the good staff did not work, after all, a completely different technique is needed for this, but the impressions remained unforgettable ...

At this point our visit was over - we said goodbye to excellent pilots and beautiful people, commanders and brigade officers, and we left for our native Odessa ...

Which of the pilots, then correct or confirm, but this is not an airfield where planes fly often ...
    There is a difference ...

Judging by the marking and the width of the strips (the number of plates), the first photo can have a strip for helicopters, and for local airlines (for small aircraft). Therefore, there are no traces of rubber.

The strip will be clean, for the simple reason that it is not intercontinental bombers that land on it, but light cars. I’ve been working at an aircraft factory for 10 years, and planes fly every day, while the strip is pristine.
In addition, international airports are shot on the strip photo. where the time between touchdowns is just a few minutes, and at the place where the chassis touches, the rubber is full, it’s just not when to clean it.

For the sake of interest, look at the Russian airbase images from space, there are these strokes there, rubber or concrete is different, or maybe they fly more often ...

and what's so strange about that? how about the heptagonal star on the DRIERS of the Georgian Air Force?

PS As a mark on the keel (vertical plumage) of aircraft of a military aircraft of a given state, an identification mark, a state (or military) flag, a geometric figure of the colors of the state flag, or with the image of the main element (or elements) of the state emblem. In rare cases, as a sign on the plumage, a special symbolic image or emblem can be used. Sometimes the entire rudder is painted in the colors of the national flag. Often, the keel mark may be absent or, for one reason or another, not be applied. As well as the identification mark, the sign on the vertical plumage may vary in the Air Force, naval aviation and ground forces aviation. Sometimes, as a sign on the keel for combat aircraft, the identification mark of military aircraft is used, and for non-combat aircraft - the image of the state flag.

I never understood why to mold the state emblem on technology, the logos of the army but not the state should be on the technique, and in Ukraine for 20 years they could not come up with a normal logo for the army ...

My friend from Volyn served in the Crimea in air defense, in that part, reluctantly knocked down a passenger liner over the Black Sea in 2001, recalling his military service, he said that this was the best time of his life, he did nothing, he only sold military equipment. air defense .. I don’t know the device and storage conditions of these devices, but it was not a one-time deal. then what kind of army is this?
Although a little off topic, my other sidekick from Poltava made a start-up capital for the sale of pipes, rails and other iron from the State Reserve of Ukraine for scrap. it wasn’t the celebrated 90, but the year 2000. In Belarus, with all the shortcomings, Sani would have smeared his forehead with greens for such actions, despite the howl of human rights defenders and other librarian codes.

Instead of the minuses, it would be better for you, proto-Ukrainians would tell us where is your nuclear weapon, where is the Strategic Missile Forces, where is the long-range aviation, where are the aircraft carriers, where is the industry and scientific potential that can do this damn it! All profuca. It remains only to hope that there will be no war or to pass by, and as history has proved more than once, this is unlikely. It remains to cut a thousand or one and a half tanks that have not been sold to Africa and what new friends from the West are asking you to donate to Georgia or anyone else who needs air defense , drown at the Zaporozhye pier, disperse Yuzhnoye, KhTZ, Antonova and other remaining design bureaus and factories and you will be happy.

Nuclear weapons are the world's 4 potential, but why do we need it? We have a different doctrine, and it is unprofitable to maintain what was controlled only from Moscow, without the possibility and means, at least. But non-nuclear status provides us with protection (US-guarantors. Russia. Great Britain)
      Strategic Missile Forces
Long-range aviation .. rocket-carriers in our territory and the ability to repair and maintain them is impossible. They cut it and gave it to Russia. (It’s a pity that not everyone gave it away - I love Carcasses)
Carriers in the Black Sea ... well, yes ... if you want to ruin the country, give her the battleship.
Thanks for the protoucre ... I didn’t consider myself like that ...
Understand that Ukraine needs an army, but not in the amount of the Ukrainian SSR, which was part of the USSR and was accordingly provided with everything necessary while being on the echelon of defense of the entire USSR !! however distracted.

You are special. sent a civilian port? Are you showing what is bad with flights? Before, there were no flights at all, what's next? Don't, we must be together should enjoy each other’s successes, respect, then we are strong. We want to quarrel, and you succumb, immediately see the negative.

    You are all wrong.
There are more than 20 combat-ready fighters but less than 30. For an air defense database, it is quite enough.
The flight-methodical training took place in Kulka because there is good weather, and there is a training ground nearby for actions on ground targets.
And the best base (as, indeed, the brigade) is Mirgorod.
