The General Staff has developed a plan to strengthen the defense capability of the garrison of the Kuril Islands

The General Staff has developed an organizational structure of the military garrison in the Kuriles, this plan is submitted to the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation.

According to the representative of the General Staff "Interfax", "in accordance with the terms of the General Staff has developed an organizational structure of the military garrison in the Kuril Islands with the definition of the parameters of the system of new weapons and military equipment, which will be reported to the leadership of the country."

Prior to this report, February 11, Chief of the General Staff Nikolai Makarov said that a new-type military garrison would be formed on the Kuril Islands.

According to A. Serdyukov, there will be no significant reduction in the 18 machine-gun and artillery division. “The grouping will change by structure. It is quite possible that it will be partially reduced by a small number of people, but at the same time it will, in fact, be enhanced by the latest communication systems, electronic warfare, and radar stations, ”the RIA Minister said.News».

The representative of the General Staff said what means will be used to strengthen the garrison:

- On the Kuril Islands it is planned to place short-range anti-aircraft missile systems "Tor-М2".

- On the island of Iturup, a division of attack helicopters Mi-28H "Night Hunter" will be located.

- to defeat surface targets, the garrison will be strengthened with the Bastion mobile coastal missile system (PBKM) with the unified supersonic self-guided anti-ship missile (Yakont).

Military expert, First Vice-President of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems Konstantin Sivkov, expressed his opinion on this message in the newspaper "Vzglyad":

"If armored vehicles and artillery systems, which are part of the machine-gun and artillery division, are not removed, then reinforcement with these means, of course, will significantly increase the defense capability of the group. The Yakhont missile system is a system that ensures the destruction of naval targets at a distance of up to 150 km from the coastline. That is, this complex will ensure the defeat of amphibious ships and detachments of warships that ensure the landing of an amphibious assault, at the stage of transition by the sea, not to mention the actions in the landing area. This is a mobile complex, they can focus on key areas and disrupt the landing of troops, as well as from one island to provide cover for several neighboring islands.

Mi-28 helicopters are able to solve the task of destroying not only the landing forces ashore, armored vehicles, etc., but also successfully combat light assault forces as they move along the coast from the landing craft.

The Tor-M2 complex will provide effective cover for the antiamphibious defense against air strikes. This is a short-range complex, it has a range of the order of 12 km, height of destruction - 5 km. The complex is also multi-channel and has high destructive capabilities, besides being the most valuable, it is autonomous, that is, it does not require the creation of a special radar field, it has its own radar monitoring system, ”the expert concluded.

“These means should increase the capabilities of the antiamphibious defense of the group of troops deployed in the Kuril Islands. The question of how many of them will be raised. These tools increase the capabilities of anti-airborne defense. But we need to conduct not just a defense, but an anti-landing operation. And for this you need to carry out major repairs of the shock ships of the Pacific fleet. In addition, it is necessary to replenish a set of precision anti-ship weapons».

Honestly, this talkery of our leadership was so tired of what they would buy and put into the army, but in reality, as the junk was in the army, it remains the same, unit samples arrive.
