Today, the Kirov Plant is one of the largest Russian industrial enterprises located in the north-west of the country and possessing more than a 210-year-old history. Historically, the main activity of the plant is agricultural and construction engineering, metal-roll, metallurgy, power engineering, mechanical and metal working. This plant is the manufacturer of the famous Kirovets tractor K-700, which was a real breakthrough in the field of tractor engineering. The first tractor was launched in 1962, but even now, after 50 years, after a series of upgrades, this tractor is still in demand by the market.
The main production units of the Kirov Plant are engaged in the production of products for agriculture and the fuel and energy complex, industrial, road and civil engineering, nuclear energy, the oil and gas sector, municipal and forestry, railway transport, shipbuilding and defense. In 2009, this industrial enterprise was included in the List of backbone enterprises of Russia. To date, the finished products of JSC "Kirov Plant" are exported to more than 20 countries of the world.
Produced by the Petersburg Tractor Plant (a subsidiary of OAO Kirovsky Zavod), the Yamal all-terrain vehicle chassis is classified as a high-traffic vehicle. These cars are designed to transport people and goods in the conditions of broken roads and off-road on the overwetted and weakly bearing soils of taiga and tundra. The wheel all-terrain vehicle “Yamal” is able to overcome fords up to 1,5 meters in depth without any preparation, and also, in the case of preparatory work, to overcome water obstacles to depths up to 2 meters.
All-terrain vehicles use special low-pressure tires. The use of such tires (pressure on the ground at the level of 300 g / cm2) provides the Yamal all-terrain vehicle with a higher level of maneuverability compared to tracked vehicles. At the same time, the new Russian all-terrain vehicle is able to transport with less fuel consumption almost 3 times more oil products than the tracked tankers used today. Due to the unique technical characteristics and design features of the Yamal all-terrain vehicle, it acts not only as one of the most reliable and highly passable cars of its class, but also as an economical, environmentally friendly and most comfortable vehicle with off-road capability. The cost of the Yamal chassis with an installed 215 diesel engine. with. is approximately 5 million rubles. On this chassis can be mounted tanks, fire pumps, workshops, various manipulators, shift buses, as well as other necessary equipment.
The chassis of all-terrain vehicles of the project "Yamal" was designed and manufactured by the Petersburg Tractor Plant by request of LLC "Yamalspetsmash". The current contract involves the supply of 3-x pilot samples of an all-terrain vehicle performed by "tractor", "dump truck" and "tank." Its decision to use the products of the St. Petersburg manufacturer Yamalspetsmash was largely due to the fact that the chassis of the famous Kirovets tractor is very widespread in the Russian Far North. This chassis has proven itself in very difficult operating conditions, in conditions of total off-road. It is the most durable and reliable in comparison with other types of equipment.
The articulated frame of off-road vehicles of the Yamal project increases the efficiency of torque transmission, and also makes it possible to use special wide-profile tires, which cannot be used on a chassis with a frame structure. The Yamal ATV chassis is suitable for installing a wide range of various equipment: manipulators, towers for maintenance of power transmission lines, fire pumps, rotational workshops and buses, etc. The preliminary demand for cars based on the Yamal chassis is determined by the customer at 100 cars per year .
At the moment, the first chassis released under this project is already in operation in Nefteyugansk. It is used to transport fuel in the forest tundra and taiga. After 45 days of trial operation expire, the commission should determine the order quantity of these vehicles. At present, it is reported about the previously reached agreement on the supply of 20 chassis "Yamal" in the modification "tractor" and another 20 chassis that will be used to transport fuel. In parallel with this, the question of a possible increase in order due to purchases by the Russian Emergencies Ministry, which is currently in dire need of all-terrain vehicles, which could be used to put out fires in the Russian tundra, is being resolved.
Heavy all-terrain vehicles "Yamal" with articulated frame
It should be noted that the use of articulated frame provides Yamal all-terrain vehicles with a number of significant advantages. In particular, such machines, compared to their frame counterparts, have a significantly smaller turning radius, low center of gravity, ideal weight distribution along the axes, movement of the footprint, possibility of using wide wheels with a large contact area with the surface, which has a positive effect on the machine’s patency .
The range of all-terrain vehicles of the Yamal platform is currently represented by the following machines:
- “B-6” (wheel formula 6х6). This is a three-axle all-terrain vehicle with a curb weight of up to 12 tons and the same load capacity on lightly bearing soils;
- “B-4” (wheel formula 4х4). A two-axle Yamal all-terrain vehicle with a curb weight of up to 11 tons and a payload of up to 9 tons on low-carrying soils.
Both models will be produced in St. Petersburg at a joint production, which is organized on the basis of ZAO Petersburg Tractor Plant, the machines will be manufactured under the brand name Kirovets-Yamal. It is planned that the plant will collect cars in the following versions: tank, tanker, fire truck with a vacuum system for rapid water intake from reservoirs, drilling rig, shift shift car. It is also possible to install on this chassis a crane-manipulator unit (CMU) and replaceable modules of the “mobile laboratory” type, as well as other equipment. Thus, the use of a design with articulated frame will allow to deliver people and any kinds of cargo, as well as special equipment, even to the most inaccessible places where there are no public roads.
The main advantage of all-terrain vehicles "Kirovets-Yamal" and "Yamal" should be the availability of standard replaceable components and assemblies, a high level of maintainability, as well as a complete service provided by the manufacturer for the entire range of equipment made on this chassis.
