France has signed a contract with the Pentagon to purchase 16 drone MQ-9 Reaper ("Reaper" - approx. "VP") manufactured by the US company General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, according to flightglobal.com. The US Department of Defense confirmed the signing of the contract and reported that French operators had begun learning how to operate these devices.
Deliveries will be conducted through the Pentagon’s military sales line and include drones, control stations, equipment for technical support and training. The first two "Reaper" French Air Force will be sent to support operations in Africa.
Today, the Pentagon has sent Congress a notice of a contract worth 1,5 billion.
