The history of the special forces began in 1988, when, according to the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR, a special purpose police unit was created for the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Kiev City Executive Committee. Life tasks
The main tasks are the fight against terrorism, the conduct of military special operations to apprehend armed criminals and free hostages, as well as to ensure public order during various events. In addition, the "Berkut" has the function of ensuring law and order during national, high-profile, socio-political, sports and entertainment, cultural, mass and religious events.
Conditions for admission
In "Golden eagle" accept mainly masters of sports and winners of competitions. This is evidenced by the many cups that are stored on the territory of the special forces. A prerequisite for entry into the "Berkut" is that the candidate must serve in the army, preferably in special units.
At present, the regiment has about eight hundred fighters who work on a contract basis. At the same time, the concept of “normalized working day” does not exist for “berkutovtsy”. The day begins with a morning briefing, after which the teams of four, to the characteristic sound of the police sirens, depart for the districts of the city where they serve.
Every day on average, fighters of the “Berkut” stop about 30 crimes
