Oceanic recognition for Georgia, or how Ivanishvili calls on the West to help in dialogue with Russia
Speaking at an international forum called “The European Way of Georgia”, Bidzina Ivanishvili once again reminded his colleagues from the European Union that Georgia’s accession to the EU, as well as the policy of joining NATO, are the primary foreign policy objectives of the Georgian leadership. At the same time, Ivanishvili understands perfectly well that neither the European Union nor NATO are ready to take the state under their wing, due to the policies of other Georgian authorities (led by Mikhail Saakashvili) who have fallen into a situation in which a substantial percentage of the territories de facto submission of Tbilisi.
Understanding such a scrupulous situation pushes Ivanishvili to unique proposals, which he clearly does not ambiguously send to Brussels and Washington. These proposals are that Georgia will receive support from partners during its dialogue with Russia. If you call a spade a spade, the Georgian prime minister proposes to keep Washington and Brussels behind him at the moment when he will negotiate with Russia on the solution of the mentioned South Caucasus issue. All in the spirit of domestic squabbles, when a puny teenager calls on a muscular guy from a neighboring yard to stand side by side when he tries to sort things out ... They say that in the case of Russia’s intractability, Georgia has a special argument ...
Such a proposal by Bidzina Ivanishvili to the Western sponsors of Georgian democracy once again proves that a one-on-one conversation (a frank conversation) between Tbilisi and Moscow does not work at all. As soon as at least some progress begins to appear, the Georgian side immediately tries to invite someone (known to whom) from the outside, so that he, so to speak, testifies to the aspirations of the Georgian leadership. Apparently, this disease in the form of some microspores flies in the offices of representatives of the Georgian authorities and is transmitted from one high-level official to another. Ivanishvili was also infected ...
What prevents the Georgian prime minister to continue the movement towards Russia? Certainly not a personal relationship to the country that turned him into a billionaire ... The fact is that Ivanishvili, like Saakashvili, is too openly dependent at this historical stage. It depends not so much on the mood of the Georgian people, but on the “covenants” that its current overseas friends told Georgia to live on. We note that Ivanishvili, in his speech at the forum, initially announced that the course towards European integration and NATO membership for Georgia remains unchanged, and then hinted to the West that he should "assist" the conduct of the negotiation process with the Russian Federation. The words about the indispensable and indestructible desire to join the North Atlantic Alliance and the EU (even if there is clearly not enthusiastic about such entry today) are a kind of allegorical expression that the “covenants” are fulfilled. This is a code word that allows the West to determine the political vector of the Georgian leadership at the level of "one's own" or "of someone else's."
In the meantime, the Georgian prime minister was considering options for how to continue his dialogue with Russia, one small and extremely inconsistent state again decided to join the “democratic cohort”, so as not to anger Big Brother with its diplomatic forties. We are talking about a state like Vanuatu, which recognized independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia a little more than two years ago, then did not confirm this information at the official level for a long time, and now decided to play back completely, saying that it restores diplomatic relations with Georgia and recognizes its territorial integrity is within the boundaries of 2008 of the year (before the separation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia). Documents on the resumption of diplomatic relations between Georgia and the island state of Vanuatu, which are not remarkable for anything other than the constant change of positions on Georgia, were signed in New York by the permanent representatives to the UN Donald Kalpokas and Vakhtang Makharoblishvili.
In connection with the incident, the Georgian Foreign Ministry expresses the hope that other countries will follow the example of Vanuatu, refusing to recognize the "separatist regions of Georgia" as independent states.
It is worth recalling that by today the independence of the two South Caucasian republics is recognized by the 5 states of the world (Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Nauru and Tuvalu). Now, obviously, we should expect a truly breakthrough development of relations between Georgia and Vanuatu. Georgian wines along with Borjomi will flow to the "endless" Vanuatskian markets, where they are expected very much, and the citizens of Georgia will have a unique opportunity to relax in the resorts of the Vanuatskiy Territory, if, of course, they have enough for a ticket to Oceania and back ... , as part of the manifestation of an unexpectedly played friendship between nations ...
In general, Vanuatu was blown away ... Still: walking in vassals of Great Britain and France right up to 1980 of the year - up to a year in which Bidzina Ivanishvili and Mikhail Saakashvili still ate the "hated" Soviet donuts and drank them in with the "hated" Soviet lemonade. Apparently, the former (and in fact, apparently, the present too) the hosts of Vanuatu reminded the local authorities not to flirt too much with their own independence ... Well, now it’s time for Nauru and Tuvalu ... Considering that the head of Tuvalu is de jure British the queen, then it is not necessary to expect firmness of positions from the local governor-general there.
And by and large, those games that the dwarfs of Oceania decided to play can comfort only the Georgian authorities, who have already believed in their diplomatic success. But against the background of this “success”, the position of Russia emerges, which in South Ossetia and Abkhazia remains adamant. It is this position that the Georgian leadership takes together on the nose. The clicks are painful, and therefore Ivanishvili is looking for a healing potion from the West. But it is the position of the West, which follows from the documents recently published in Georgia itself, which supported Saakashvili’s adventure, and led Georgia to the state in which it resides today. So, asking for help from someone who actually crushed Georgia is at least strange. But after all, endless strangeness is the normal state of the representatives of the Georgian authorities ...
