Following the death of servicemen, the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan were dismissed.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev dismissed Commander-in-Chief of the Kazakh Navy Kanat Niyazbekov and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Kanysh Abubakirov. Deputy Defense Minister Almaz Dzhumakeyev also resigned. The deaths of 14 service members during exercises in the Caspian Sea prompted the major personnel changes in Kazakhstan's defense ministry.

Earlier, Tokayev replaced Kazakhstan's Minister of Defense and ordered the creation of a comprehensive investigation commission within the country's Ministry of Defense. Aidos Myrzakhmetov, Commander of the Special Operations Forces, has now been appointed Minister of Defense. Meanwhile, five Defense Ministry officials were detained as part of the investigation into the circumstances of the incident during exercises in the Caspian Sea, including the Chief of Staff and First Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Naval Forces, two unit commanders, and the commanders of a marine company and a boat. The detained servicemen have been placed in a temporary detention facility pending the investigation.

A tragedy occurred on September 24 in the Mangystau region, when 17 servicemen were swept out to sea during naval exercises due to a sharp deterioration in weather. Three were rescued, but the remaining 14 perished. Although the Kazakh Navy's exercises had been prepared in advance, for some reason the storm forecast was not taken into account. The servicemen who died during the exercises were awarded posthumously. The three surviving servicemen were nominated for the Medal for Courage.

What's wrong? Everything is on point, nothing could be further from the truth, that's how things should be done, it's not like this here... They did everything right there, well done, a completely correct move, everything is precise.

    -This is not ours...
As before: a good harvest means a medal for the regional/district committee secretary. A bad one means a reprimand (at the very least) for the collective/state farm chairman.

There was an incident during the training exercises, but we have no one for the Kursk epic (and so many civilians died there, and not just any civilians - tortured by Nazi beasts), feel the difference

I have not heard that any of our senior officials were fired or imprisoned for incompetence, sloppiness, or connivance due to the Kursk failure.
We can only be happy for the Kazakhs; their governance system isn't invincible, and they're working on their mistakes.

Who was punished for June 22, 1941? People's Commissar Timoshenko or Chief of the General Staff Zhukov—did they cut a hole in their heads? Far more people were tortured back then—feel the difference.
Pavlov received the pawn for Belarus - for the rest of the front no one was punished.
      But this apparently "doesn't count".....

As I understand it, Tokayev will also resign next week?

How is this possible?! And who will decide and announce "reasonable procedural decisions" (c), "brand with shame" (c), so to speak?

Excerpt from a message on Tokayev’s official presidential website dated September 27, 2026.
The President described the deaths of military personnel in peacetime as a consequence of the criminal, inherently unprofessionalism of officers, including generals.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev demanded an investigation into not only the circumstances of the tragedy, but also the rationale behind the exercise itself and the extent to which the tasks set meet modern threats.
The President noted that during the exercises, military personnel were not provided with the necessary equipment, including life jackets.
The head of state emphasized that ranks and positions cannot serve as grounds for exemption from liability. This matter is under his personal control.

Yeah, I can only envy you. At best, we'd get away with a reprimand, or maybe even let it slide.

You served in the wrong General Staff... We should really employ our comrades in ours, otherwise the good stuff (another word) will go to waste...
