Estonian Foreign Ministry: We are working to prevent Russian grain from being transported through Baltic ports.

Estonia is working to stop the transport of Russian grain through Baltic ports, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna announced in Riga on September 30. His remarks came during a meeting with Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs and Foreign Minister Baiba Braže.

Earlier, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that, according to Tsahkna, Russian grain transit through Estonia itself is virtually nonexistent. The minister then urged shippers not to plan such shipments through the country and stated that Estonia would seek a regional or pan-European solution in conjunction with Latvia and Lithuania. If shipments through Estonia begin to increase, the authorities are prepared to consider their own sanctions, the ministry's statement stated.

For Latvia, the issue concerns an existing route. According to its State Revenue Service, 253,623 tons of grain from Russia transited through Latvia from September 1 to 24—almost twice as much as in the entire month of last September. However, Latvia is trying to claim that no transshipment took place.

All this further demonstrates that Baltic politicians continue to bend over backwards, claiming they have no economic ties with Russia, while businesses dot the i's and cross the t's. When European businesses benefit, they themselves are willing to turn a blind eye to all the sanctions measures that officials previously imposed in thousands.

According to the politician, it can be judged that the Balts do not want a "grain deal," unlike Erdogan.

I don't think anyone's asking the Estonians themselves at all. Today, the wishes of Estonian fascist politicians are supplemented by EU politicians who seek to make life difficult for us, even by sacrificing the economies of the Baltic states, which they themselves are trying to exclude from the EU budget. In short, the EU operates on the principle: let the Estonians starve, as long as the Russians scratch their heads... how to circumvent EU restrictions. Meanwhile, the EU is increasingly talking about the need to reach an agreement with Russia. A paradox...

Yes, the problems of exporting/selling grain abroad are extremely relevant today:
The price of grain this fall in the southern regions of Russia has fallen by half compared to last year – from 11–13 thousand to 5 thousand rubles per ton and below.

They might find somewhere to store it, but farmers need money to continue production.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the government to organize the purchase of grain from farmers for the state reserve. The decision was made amid difficulties selling the harvest due to restrictions on southern ports. Experts say the decision is crucial – it will remove surplus grain from the market and support farmers. The question is how much to purchase for the state reserve, when, and at what price.

There is a place to store grain; we never sold grain at harvest time; we exported it throughout the year.
Yes, some manufacturer does not have its own tanks, but it sold to an elevator or to exporters who have tanks.

You've signed up to be Volodin's lawyer, I take it? You should have read Volodin a few years ago; believe me, you'd be surprised by his original articles, albeit on various topics. Now I see a faceless stream of AI-powered news recounted and rephrased.
I'm certainly happy for you that you use AI "despite your considerable age," but I certainly don't visit a specialized analytics site with a pretentious name like "Military Review" to scroll through a deluge of AI-inflated information into supposedly 3-4-character articles—the ultimate limit for a typical omnivorous visitor. The pursuit of traffic (visits) and SEO (search engine visibility) by mashing together everything from all continents and disparate topics in order to get into search results at any cost has completely devalued this platform, which positions itself as a specialized analytics project.

    Interesting government in Estonia
It assumes that we will continue to engage in self-harm just so that Russia doesn’t benefit from something.
This is a very, very selfless policy in the opinion of the rest of the EU
Then, somehow, disabled Estonia will even be awarded an honorary diploma for such valor, unlike the renegade Latvia, which showed cowardice and faintheartedness by cutting off its own hand and gouging out its own eye for the sake of the bright ideals of Europe.

The Baltic ports developed thanks to the transit of Russian cargo both during the Soviet era and after Perestroika, thereby making a significant contribution to the economies of those countries.
Thanks to the "wise" policies of the Baltic states, development stagnates, and then leads to a crisis in port infrastructure. This is true, given the development of Russian ports – Primorsk and then Ust-Luga.

The Baltic ports developed both during the Soviet period and in the post-Perestroika years, thanks to Russian cargo (oil, grain, fertilizers, etc.), making a significant contribution to the economy. Then, thanks to the "wise" policies of the Baltic states, stagnation turned into a crisis in port operations. They shot themselves in the foot. Although their cargo traffic was already largely intercepted by Primorsk and then Ust-Luga in the 21st century, they could have continued to operate, at least with Belarusian transit.
